Cedar ceiling

30 years ago we had a old German master craftsman install tongue and groove ceiling throughout our home. He hand picked each piece and there is almost no knots to be found. We had a carpenter in doing some kitchen work and he couldn't believe that it was so clear and without knots. He said it was really difficult to find wood like that now. We're going to downsize soon and wondered if that was the case trying to find cedar of this quality.

That looks like clear vertical grain western red cedar. Here is a link.

That is vg wrc  4 or 6".  But it is primarily cut in coastal B.C.    It is definitely available but is not cheap.  3.00 to 3.50 /bf wholesale      Obviously the finer the grain the more premium the price.    Makes great paneling.
