I contacted Axminster and their reply was that they are not allowed to ship to the US under their agreement with FESTOOL.  I know I've talked with a few of you who have ordered from Axminster recently.  What gives with the reply they're not allowed under agreement with FESTOOL?????

I was hoping to purchase the Installers Kit they offer the 98 pc set.  It was the same price as the 89 pc set that sells here when you can find one.

I'm confused why I got this email when I know they ship here

I just tried the German Amazon, they have the set but again in red prints stated.  No shipping to the US. 
Any suggestions

People around here openly flaunted the ability to import and big brother Festool had a talk with Aixminster.

My suggestion is , in the future , discussions of importing avenues be kept to pmail.

Whats wrong going on to a Festool owned site and telling others how to skirt Festools fixed pricing by ordering from Europe.  Seriously guys.  Your ruining it for everyone else. Just like [member=727]antss[/member] said, email each other and don't post it to a Festool owned site!.

@ Klaus  I did a comparison for a few items and conclusions can be made by anyone:

A Domino 500 Q Set has a US list price of $ 990. In Germany it is € 998 (equals $ 1088).
A MIDI costs $ 560 in the US, in Germany it is € 480 ($ 524).
A TS 55 REBQ Basic costs $ 465. In Germany: € 582 ($ 635).

Mind you that these are list prices. With some shopping around 15% off is feasible in Europe -- never more, though.

That is correct. As of April 19, 2017 Axminster does not ship Festool products to US.
People on FOG were constantly discussing how to circumvent Festool's fixed price policy, so here you go. Festool listened.

Wish they'd listen to (and fix) the complaints about Kapex, the guide rail deflector, the metric system, keeping the non cleantec hose fittings, and their website.

Guess they can't be bothered because they're too busy worrying about losing sales.  [wink]

Well, I'm glad I ordered my metric Zobo set on the 12th and received it. I did not want to spend the additional 90$ just to have it in a mini systainer. It's a shame this choice is now closed to us.

The German price includes 19% VAT, so €998 is actually €839 excluding VAT. Which is $915
Meaning the price differences are really, really small.

Now compare prices of Maglite, Canon photo paper, Lenovo Thinkpad laptops; it's all way, way, way more expensive over here and US sellers are often also prohibited from shipping to us. So I got my Maglites off eBay (there used to fit two D Maglites in the importtax-free range), the photo printer (43 lbs) with photo paper... shipped from the US by another eBay'er. My Thinkpad? From a German with a Chinese name... off eBay. Laptop was originally sold in the US.

The incan bulbs for the 'tuned' Maglites? From a guy on a US forum.

There are plenty of nice Europeans willing to ship something the other way if you ask them  [wink]

That's info that I've never thought of. Why is there such a wide range of prices when looking at sites from the Netherlands to Germany to the U.K.  In my search I've found wide dispersion of pricing for one tool.  Is it not fixed pricing in Europe.  I'm a bit shy to ask any questions in light of the recent change in policy.  I find the U.K. Seems less expensive than the Netherlands or Germany.  Maybe we need a dark web to have these discussions

Personally I was not trying to save a few dollars by trying to buy from Axminster.  I was just trying to obtain a Festool product that is no longer available in the US.  Just like the MFS series of router templates.  They're no longer available here. 

Be it that Axminster has what seems to be a fair price on the Installers Kit.  Now curiosity has gotten me here.  I've traveled to Europe 4 or 5 times and will be visiting Italy in a few months.  I sort of remember about the VAT but never really worried much.  I guess because I've never bought anything of a large amount of money that I had to claim.  Clothes and such smaller pocket items.  How does it work when your (new cousin ships you a gift straight to the US)?  Does VAT still apply?

6-mm is a bit smaller than 1/4". So it goes in, but there is a bit-o-slop.
Obviously the 1/4" do not go into a 6-mm. So your 1/4" bits will not fit in a Festool driver.

The general bits are nothing special, and a lot more is available in 1/4".
So you pr Bosch maybe be better for general bits.

The Zobos, and the brad point jobs are nice... Whether that is worth it I am not sure.
In any case I got one and I use it... but with a 1/4" drill and holder, so similar to what you are starting with.

There is actually quite a few available if you search hard enough.  From what I've found with all my searching lately for a 98 pc set I've found some.  Check your local Woodcraft stores.  I was given a tip from one of the guys here to search a few WOODCRAFT's. 

I visited the Pittsburgh store yesterday because they were holding a 89 pc set for me.  I decided against it. I still want the 98 pc kit.  Pittsburgh store has at least two sets.  Rockville MD has I believe 3 kits.  I can't remember where I found the others but. Check Woodcraft
