Centrotec Systainer?

I am really on the fence about ordering (preordering) the Centrotec Systainer.  I get close to placing an order and then start debating with myself again.  On one hand I really like the concept and some of the unique items that will only available in the set at the time it is released (and at a savings of ordering separates).  I have held off buying any Centrotec bits and drivers waiting for the set.  OTOH, I keep going back and forth over buying stuff that I do not see that I will use -- i.e. the hook driver -- while I am sure it is useful to others, I just do not see a need for this type of bit in my arsenal (or maybe I am missing something).  I also do not use many slotted screws and do not see a need to use a drill to drive that type of screw (of course having the handle that accepts the bits allows this to be used as a hand screwdriver).  Taking out some of the key components like the drill bits and a few of the driver bits that are available today, combining them with a Systainer and you are well on your way to the purchase price of this current offering.

I know that this is a limited quantity, limited time offer and that they will likely sell out quickly -- so obviously others have made the clear choice that it is worth it to them and have no regrets.  But, $425 is $425 and that could buy another tool or be put towards something that I do not have (Kapex, Domino XL -- when it is released), etc...

I would appreciate hearing from the collective wisdom of fellow Foggers.  I know in the end that only I can decide if it is right for me, but hearing Pros and Cons from others will help and some of you have purchased similar sets in the past and I assume that they have worked or not worked out as anticipated.

So -- can someone give me a push or pull me back?  Thoughts, comments and advice is much appreciated.

I have had my set for almost a year now (from the UK) and it has been worth every penny. Have I used every bit in it? No. But what price do you put on having everything neat and tidy, easy to transport, in one place? And the bits that I have used are truly first-rate.

I really like the centrotec set and I think the price is very compelling. This set and my C12 set are amongst my favourite Festools.

Thanks, Richard.  I appreciate your comments.

Anyone else out there with +/- comments to share?

Thanks!

I have the set that was originally offered here strapped to my C12. Use it every day and wouldn't hesitate to do it all over. May order one of the new sets for the shop.

I got my Centrotec set dirt cheap, and added the missing stuff to it, and really like it. Way too expensive, byt last well and is a pleasure to use (the hookdriver too).

Cheers,
Jacques.

I am just a hobbyist, so to me its not worth the money... $425 is a lot of money.  I'll buy the bits that I need, and whenever I have some change in my pocket, I might buy the set.  But now, I think its too much money.  Way too much.

I look at it the same as tools, buy it and be done. Bite the bullet once. Can't tell you how many bits I've bought over the years, some scattered here and there, these will all be in 1 spot.
I pre ordered  as soon as I could. looking forward to them.

Pull the trigger.  [big grin]  I have been wanting some kind of festool drill bit set to but i look at the same way to, what other tool can i get for the money. So many Festools and so little money,    [crying]
