Hi All

Bought the CMS specifically as router table for my 1400 and after quite a few projects undertaken I've got to say I love it.
Before I bought it though I was hesitant as quite a few posts on here intimated that the fence was difficult to set up accurately.
As you all know these types of tools have a steep learning curve but I've found that the fence and alignment itself have been trouble free and I thought I'd share what I do.
Basically I set up the fence to suit the markings on the table making sure they correspond but I've found that the easiest way to double check is to take the sliding table, attach the angle stop and push the profile over till it touches the bit or bearing etc. then simply slide the table back and forward adjusting the fence set up as you go if at all required.
It's even more accurate if you turn the profile flat but it's a quick check if done as shown in the pic.
Hope it helps.

Never seen that method in any manual but it's exactly the one I use [member=25539]SMJoinery[/member]. I've had the unit a week and it is an awesome machine. Have run 100m of oak through it plus  100m of mdf and the dust extraction is excellent and the of1400 can spin a fair  size bit.  The only issue I've had is one of the studs holding on the guard assembly kept vibrating loose till I locktited it and the locking nut on the split fence adjustment would not hold the adjuster that span round as I was using it. Nail punch through the hole marked it enough for the locking nut to hold without affecting adjustment.

Great minds think alike!
I took a fair bit of time making sure the fence etc was fully adjusted when I got the kit but after that this method has proven super accurate. I made some oak stile and rail doors and the joints were superb and perfectly square when assembled.

Sorry to hear about niggles you've had but glad to hear the fix was easy.
The only issue I have had was when running a rebate. I blocked the large fence hose and left the bottom hose to obtain all the extract. This made a huge improvement on this kind of operation especially when feed rate was slowed.
When I see how good the 1400 is in the OF, I think I might get the 2200!!

Congrats on the CMS GE, with the sliding fence..I'm seriously considering the same setup but will use it with the OF 2200, which is Allowed / supported here in Europe.

Interesting tip on aligning the fence. I'd read about the critical comments about the CMS router fence setup, but have been pretty sure I'd find a way to work with it, now I see you guys have come up with a nice solution, and reaffirmed the necessity of getting it with the sliding fence. It's an extra here as well as the hose, so something to think about..

The whole setup looks quite big enough, but I'm wondering if getting an off feed table, like the UG wing L would be a good idea? I'm not that much for the CMS offed table as it doesn't give you that much space and is rather expensive...

I don't have a problem with the fence at all. Especially when Ya consider the majority of bits have bearings. The ones without bearings do take a tad more time to set up. The lines on the table and the marks on the fence are pretty accurate to.

Yes it's all extra here as well and I don't think it will be long before I get a 2200 for it.
Best out feed table is MFT3 which I have. Any funds available would be put against this if I didn't have one.

I've got an MFT 3 so I guess I'll just use that or make an off feed table at the right height..

I use the ug wings as in and out feed tables. They do however catch the fence as it overhangs the v-groove even with smaller bits so you can not set them in line with the fence. Attaching them to the table is easy with clearance to do them up unlike the MFT [mad]. Being a mobile guy working out of a van the ug wings are hung off everything. I may get a second set as they get moved from machine to machine.
Another thing I've found is to improve dust collection when routing grooves/dados is to collect from bottom only. I take the 36mm hose off and block it. Works really well with mdf

Thanks for the tips, I'm staring at the products pages for router bits, the accessory madness is setting in. I'll just buy the basics and worry about the details in due time.. The CMS GE OF 2200 kit, is a good basic start , the TS 75 module I'm not so sure about yet.. so I'll focus on everything router related..
