Dilemma: I need a router table but I don't want to rig something to work with OF2200 nor do I want to buy a third router.

CMS/OF2200 Insert would be great

The stars are lining up:
* My friend is traveling to France, Belgium, and Germany in a few weeks and has offered to pick up for me what ever I want
* She frequent flier so she doesn't have to pay for third luggage bag/package (I will have to see about weight/size restrictions and surcharges)
* Amex Concierge said they can arrange the purchase and delivery to my friends hotel

Costs:

? 479 CMS Table
? 550 OF2200 Insert
=1029? = $1521 + Local Taxes if any + local delivery free if necessary + UPS shipping fee from CA to FL

I am trying to decide if it worth it or maybe getting the TS75 insert too would make it worthwhile since whats the point of having interchangeable piece if you don't have anything to interchange right?

If and when this were to hit our shores what would you pay for it? What do you think it will go for? I am trying to figure out what the premium of having having it now will cost and whether its worth it.

If I decide not to get it I am going to have to get something to take advantage of this opportunity. What would you get? Centrotec or protool in systainer? Will the carvex sold in store by then (I could get the battery one perhaps)

Wow! Is that $1521 US dollars plus shipping? That's an expensive router table!  I use the Bench Dog portable pro table and fence, the Jessem lift, and a Porter Cable 690 router motor and it works perfect. That set-up would cost less than $700 - $750. You'd have plenty left over for other tools.  Maybe the 1400 for hand held routing.  It's a great mid-size router.

KIm,

Personally I would not buy any tool from any manufacturer - even Festool - in a foreign country and then possibly subject myself to any sort of warranty repair issues here in the US if something went wrong.

That's just me.

Agreed. The (perceived) added value of having this setup from Festool would not be worth the potential trouble for me.

Kim,

Also bear in mind that any CMS table bought in France, Belgium or Germany will ONLY be available in 230V, so will not be compatible with your (presumably) 120V US spec router...

As to the new Carvex, I'm not sure when it will be available in Europe but I seem to remember someone on here said 1st May? I don't think it'll be ready fro 1st April since that's only 2 days away.

If you want something NAINA, might I suggest that you buy just the TS75 module now - that way, when the CMS & Router module are available over there, you can buy them at home & you'll then have the option to use either insert, whereas no-one else will (since the other modules aren't likely to be available in the US anytime...). When that happens, if you decide you don't want the CMS, or have no use for the TS75 module, you can sell the TS75 module on eBay, and probably double your money in the process!

@kfitzsimons: Shipping would be nominal for me because it would only be shipping from CA to FL. I have the 1400 looks cute which I havent used yet  [tongue] I say that because the OF2200 is only router I have ever used.

@Peter: I have been buying NAINA items since the mid nineties. It comes with the territory

@Johnny: The electrical box I would think would be the easiest thing to fix/change for my use. Great idea about just buying the inserts

While cost is always a consideration my purchases are value driven. What I need to know and am trying to determine if all the features are there that I will need/want. Paying a premium for a product that fits my needs is acceptable. Paying a premium to missing key features is a different story

Thanks for the feedback. I will update you guys as this pans out

Kim,
I agree and am heading to Scotland soon.
How did you resolve your choices.
In UK I have seen CMS 110v.
Am curious to know whether festool will release CMS in US in 2011

The simple answer that is no.  If you want a CMS you aren't going to be able to buy one in the US for the foreseeable future, in ever.
