corded drill

with a corded drill you could also have some kind of Dust collection, for a cleaner drilling operation.

Ironic that you say this - I use a cordless Dyson up close if I'm drilling and need to collect the debris. Not perfect though. Plust the Dyson is only good for about 20 min of bursts.

I suppose the good thing is that you get to run the vacuum nozzle over the hole. Drilling walls and overhead is a two person job (and that doesn't happen because the other person would need to be my wife!)

I quite like the idea of an integrated plug-it hose with the power connector integrated into the hose connector, but it will need some neat engineering to come up with one that doesn't get contact problems once it get dusty and it will effectively stop the cutting of the hoses to shorter lenghts and would generate an interesting monopoly for Festool on the hose tech since they would most likely patent the connector+hose combination.

It would also complicate the CT vac bottom half since it's currently entirely passive (electronics wise) whereas a properly implemented plug-it hose would need to get the power routed via the hose connector and possible Planex dust-port adapters to the hose connector itself on the vac end too.

Also the wireless vac activation would be great even as an add-on for current wireless carvex's if something like that could be implemented into the batteries and maybe a powerplug format receiver & load simulation circuit onto the vac power outlet to trigger the current vacs would provide reasonable backward compatibility.

Not something I have tried but......    various companies (such as Bosch) make DC shrouds that attach to rotary hammers and hammer drills. It is possible that one of those might fit a regular drill also.

Several years ago Dewalt made a line of 24 v cordless tools that also accepted an AC adaptor. I seem to recall that the line was not produced for very long. Apparently the idea did not seem to catch on enough to keep the products going.

I use a Hilti - I believe it is the only CORDLESS drill with vacuum attachement. There is als a handy gadget which plugs to the end of an ordinary hose  that then holds to the wall with vacuum power and has a small hole for the drill bit, I'll try to find a link.
