Craftsman lamp build

My question is, What is the negative to using rawhide?  It seems the designer is quite happy with his product.

Rawhide is essentially the base product for parchment (not really, mostly kids’ skin is used for the real stuff - as in baby boy goats and sheep), but as Luke has had to leap thru loops (sanding and whatever) to get to the point where the stuff looked like parchment, he might as well haver used parchment.

But — I do like to follow Luke’s reports about his progress on the road to {…}, so please discount these remarks if necessary for your inner state of zen.

BTW The effect of parchment is as what is shown here with the heavily processed rawhide. {Just saying!}

i'm wondering how the parchment Vs. rawhide is strength wise.  I have to say I'm quite ignorant on the topic of "shades" and paper in just about every way possible.

Looks great. Nice work and it must have been good using the nice bench for the project.

Luke:

This is truly inspiring! Lucky kid...

Tom

As well - Sears long sold stuff under the "Craftsman" label and a lot, if not all of it, was guaranteed forever. Is this lamp guaranteed forever?

OK, OK, I apologize in advance for that nonsense. Please don't tell the "Wise Guys" where I live...

That turned out fantastic IMO! I would like to attempt something like this one day.

Go for it.  It's really not that difficult.
If anyone has questions send me a pm
