Hi there
We got a CSC 50 a month ago. It works well except for one detail: it won't connect to the app. It’s not critical, just slightly annoying. We were hoping to make use of the feature to change the presets from the app.
So, in the case that anyone has had that problem or has an idea what else to do for troubleshooting – that would be fantastic!
This is the setup:
CSC SYS, software version 9
2 x batteries, 4.0 Ah, high power, software version 15.0
(Festool support confirmed that these are the latest software versions for these items, iOS and app are all updated to the latest version.)
Both batteries individually connect properly to an iOS device for updates and status details. Both batteries work properly when used in a Domino or a CXS drill. I was able to update the Domino and I can chance the drill clutch settings, for example.
For whatever reason, the saw won’t connect. I follow the instructions, the battery is in its connection mode (LED flashes blue), the app is ready to connect to the tool but it won’t happen. No error, just no connection.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
I’ve tried with 3 different iOS devices with different iOS versions. 2 of them were never connected to the batteries before. I deleted the batteries from the phone’s bluetooth list and re-added them in the Festool app. I started the process from scratch and also from the "My Tools" list in the app.
I've been on the phone with Festool support. They tried their best to recreate the problem on their end, and went through the whole process with me together. The problem wasn't resolved. I ended up shipping the saw to Festool. It came back today and the problem still persist.
Here’s what’s weird:
We had the saw on site last month. After it was running for half a day, I tried to connect it in the office and it worked for a couple times like it’s supposed to. The connection lastet only for a couple seconds. I was able to manually connect it maybe three times until it stopped working again. If this thing would have a cable, I would describe this as a broken cable that sometimes connects when you wiggle it a little bit. Festool support said that it could be a cold solder point or something that didn't show up in quality control and that shipping could have caused this. It sounded plausible at the time.
UPS delivered the saw today from the repair center. Packaging was in good condition.
So, before I am going to contact Festool again, I thought I give the FOG a try. I am considering buying a 5 Ah battery in case this is a software problem. Festool support said that this is unlikely, but it’s the only idea I have at the moment.
Any ideas appreciated!
