Ct22 Plus a Midi or Mini?

I am very happy with my CT22. I am getting ready to buy another sander and I am thinking of getting a package deal that includes either a mini or midi.

The Ct22 plus boom arm is pretty much dedicated to the MFT now since I installed the boom arm. I used to move it inside when I needed to use a tool, but it is a less maneuverable and more awkward to move with the boom arm. Since I am remodeling my house one end to the other, having the flexibility to use a vac+festool inside is important. Since the mini and midi appear to differ only in capacity and size, I favor the mini, but I am curious if anyone has thoughts about the value of one over the other or is this just splitting hairs?
Thanks,
John

I also have the ct22/boom that is dedicated to my MFT. I recently bought the MIDI for portability, and I couldn't be happier. I just emptied the bag today after using it exclusively for planing, routing, sanding, sawing and dominating(the Domino) ;) for the last month. So, if capacity is your concern, as it was mine at purchase, then you can compare to my applications. I don't think you can go wrong either way though. BTW, the hose garage is a very nice touch, wish the 22 came with one.

Jeff,

You say you just emptied the bag, did you actually empty it out or use a new bag ?

I only ask because I bought a midi with my ts55 about a month or two ago and have not really used them yet so wondered how easy it would be to empty and reuse the bag when its full.

You probably won't have to wait long - Festool UK now supplies all CT22/33s with the hose garage addition. It's also available as a spare for existing vac's.

It's completely non-electrical, so I can't see UL approval being necessary!!! (I assume you're in the 'states).

I can't find it on Festool's UK website, but you can view one here.

I too have the CT22 with the boom arm and also bought the Midi for portability. I too could not be happier with this setup. I have used the Midi with the Domino and my Rotex 150 for approx. 25+ hours including heavy, heavy sanding on a room that I just built using 3/4 inch B/C plywood on the inside of the room. The Midi and the Rotex are absolutely wonderful though I must admit that the Rotex was a little hard on the arms and shoulders when I used it above my shoulders.  :) The combo with the Midi left NO dust in the air or on existing furniture and I felt as safe as when anyone of my other Festools is attached to my CT22. Sorry for being so long winded. :) Fred

John--

Neither the MINI nor the MIDI have HEPA filters, if that's important to you.

The opening on the vac bag is the same as the large end of the vacuum hose, it is very easy to empty the bag.  I use my vac for sanding and the TS55, so all the dust is small, I don't know how it would be for the planer or router chips.  I imagine it would still be fairly easy due to the large hole size.

Also, to Johnny round boy, the add on hose garage for the CT 22/33 is available in the US and I think a lot of the dealers stock it.  I believe it is $40 in US dollars.  I'll be getting one soon, its really one of those necessary accessories that will pay for itself by protecting the hose and cord while they are not in use.  I agree that it should just be standard with the vac.

I just empty them since they dont make a reusable bag for the little vacs. No big deal. Just keep reusing the paper ;).
