I am new to festool but I am loving the green life.  Especially the dust control.  That leads me to my CT36 with Boom Arm.  Love it...I use it for the track saw. 1400 router and for shop cleanup.  I move it around the shop and vacuum the floor.  I don't like the cord though.  It is heavy and I hate that it is draped across the floor. Left there to trip over.  So I came up with the following in the photo.  I tucked the cord into the hose caddy.  I then mounted a hose reel (of sorts) to the wall and connected the two one of those cord turn buckles.  Now I can easily pull cord out to move around the shop and the quickly roll it back in.  Festool, you should make a Sys1 with a build in cord retractor reel.  Or better yet, build it into the vac.  In the meantime, I am happy with the mod.

That cord is heavy for a reason, when you plug another tool into the vac you have to have a wire heavy enough for both machines. It looks like the one in the picture might be a lighter gauge, be careful.

[welcome] to the FOG!

While I admire your idea, I agree with John Beauchamp. I also don't believe the cord in your basket is adequate to run your CT with another tool plugged into it. If it's not heavy enough you run the risk of damaging your CT36, the tool plugged into it, or both. We don't want that to happen to you!

Please don't take this as a criticism of what you did - we just don't want to see you damage your tools!

So you know, the cord should say 12/3 on it somewhere. Anything smaller (14/3, 16/3) might APPEAR to work, but you'll be experiencing a voltage drop that might be dangerous to your tools. Along those lines, extra cord is BAD. Use the SHORTEST cord that will do the job.

Your CT and tools thank you!

Hi,

    Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

Nice set up. Like they said , just make sure the extension cord is heavy enough to handle the load.

Also I like the crevice tool and floor nozzle storage  [thumbs up]
