CTL SYS arrived today!!!!!!!!!!

Haven't even ordered mine yet, been busy & completely forgot about it!

Just had a look but N&B doesn't have it on their website yet, which surprises me.

I'm really pleased the top hose garage sys1 detaches, I honestly didn't think it would. How easily does the hose fit in? I'm guessing it's tight, hence the reason for shortening it from the standard 3.5m to just 3m.

Does it look like it'd be possible to remove the lid of the sys1 and modify a sys2 base to use instead? That would hopefully give a bit more room for the longer hose as well as making it the same height as a sys4 (so you could, for example, put the TS55R systainer and the vac on the floor to support a board for cutting).

The only problem with it being sys1+sys2 is that, no matter what number or combination of other systainers you have, you can never make two equal-height stacks without at least one other sys2. The only sys2's I have are for tools that live mainly in the workshop. I don't usually carry any sys2's in my van unless I have a specific need for the tool on-site.

If it looks possible I think that mod is going to happen pretty much as soon as it arrives (as long as I get round to *actually* ordering one!). [thumbs up]

Jonny, why don't you just swap out the lid of an sys mft 1 onto a sys 2, much more useful having the sys mft lids on the larger systainers. And then leave the sys mft 2 in your van.

Looks great!

I can't wait to receive mine. I have been on three "touch up and slight modification" jobs last week where the CTL sys would have been perfect. For me the stacking is not a problem as I have various solutions for that and plenty of "transport" systainers. :)

The small footprint and the light weight makes it for me. I ordered a longlife bag too, they are small enough to empty in any house hold plastic bag when full.

Great photos by the way. :)

Of course, that makes far more sense! I've just had a a look at the pictures again and it's blatantly obvious that my idea is a really stupid one! The sys1 base is completely differe shape, and that's where the handle is.

I've been ill for the last few days, and not sleeping properly, so I'm going to blame my idiocy on that... [blink]

Hi Alex,

No it's the green ring on the picture below.
You can regulate the airflow by turning the ring and then the opening under the ring gets smaller or larger.
Today I worked with the CTL SYS fir the first time, just did some cleaning and light sanding with a RS 400.
Worked beautifully!

Looks very promising. I do wonder if the main airflow passes through the motor, or if it works like a real workshop vac.
I came across the parts list with picture on the German site:

I can't determine the airflow at first sight though.

Don't know if this link will work:

Well,  a little searching has revealed the following:

1.  There is a USA model manual prepared and out on the web.

SPECS:  8.3 AMPS  16.4 ft cord.  1.19 gallon capacity.  Weight 15.2 lbs (both systainers).  Dry Debris Only.  20 kg weight limit on strap.

2.  There is an automatic air bypass system that activates if the bag is clogged.  It does have overheat protection also.

It seems that we will be seeing these in NA at some point.  I can't wait.

good detective work, Peter!

I admit I stumbled upon it by accident while trying to see if it had a bypass as asked earlier.

Regarding price - Who knows, but if you look at the UK price posted earlier that would be about $340 based on my conversion program.

Noise level is not variable like the other CT's.  67 db.  Mid-range of the Mini.

Static lift is the same as the mini.

I question the term "automatic air bypass system".  My experience from servicing commercial grade vacuums at several self service car washes, and the most rudimentary understanding of universal motors in general is that there is no such thing as an activating bypass in common vacs.  Bypass cooling simply refers to a small cooling fan on top of the motor attached to the armature.  It does not activate when airflow through the vac is somehow blocked. Because it is attached to the armature it runs continuously, cooling the motor at all times.  The air intake/exhaust for this small fan is separate from the suction for the vac.

Pretty much every cheap shop vac and small power tool you own has one of these cooling fans-so to promote this feature as something special is a bit of a gimmick.

Brice,  here is what is written.  Consider it what you will.

And if you are concerned about the safety of the unit and over heating, here is what is in the manual:

This thing is really sweet looking!!  Hopefully it makes it way to the states sooner than later

I speculated earlier that the price would be about $350. Peter confirmed that guesstimate.

At that price, I want one too. Since Shane is gone, who do we ask to find out the ETA for NA?

While I think it's a nice compact version for small jobs, the one thing that I find missing is ancillary battery power (even as an option) - that would have made it perfect. There's times where I go to a remote onsite for a small job and I'd love not to have to drag out either a long power cord or a generator to do a little clean up. Heck, I'd love to have it just to clean up the car!
