My youngest daughter just completed her second year of collage ($40,000.00 + a year) pre-med, her sister is a lawyer and her brother is an electrical engineer so you can guess where the money has gone.

Thank god for free education in Finland. Well, I just have to keep my fingers crossed it's still free when my kids need it.  :-\

Free education?  Is that was a 31.5% tax rate after only 62,200 EUR gets you?   :P  It may appear to be free but you and everyone else is paying for it.  Not much different here, though, except the top tax rate doesn't happen until you start earning serious coinage...

Everyone,
One of the interesting things I noticed is how often guests print the forum discussions.

To see what I mean, go to the main page of the forum, then scroll down and click on the little people icon  [attachimg=1]  and check out how many guests show up with "Printing the topic" after their names.  For example, right now there are 9 guests printing topics.  I've seen the number go much higher.

That seems to tell me the discussions are worthwhile to guests.  But I do wonder whether just joining would be better!  And don't forget, joining allows you to print the photos as well.

Thats Great!

Now I can really embellish in good conscience, 'cause I'm a printed author!  :o

Yeah, maybe we should keep score and see whose posts get printed most often!  The winner gets a green "pear" shirt like the one in your avatar!

Hi,

Right NOW about four times as many guests as members.  Come on sign up and post your ideas, etc. Some one in the 265 guests must have something  to say or an idea to share or a question.  :)

That proportion is pretty consistent throughout the day.

One interesting thing here.  As the administrator, I'm able to see the IP address of members and guests to the forum.  I can get an idea of what region people are from.  Over the past three weeks or so, I've noticed a lot more guests (lurkers) coming from Asia.  Specifically, we are seeing numerous people from China looking in on the forum.  In fact, our newest member (created an account this morning) is from Beijing.

Then there's those of use who show up every two weeks... but its summer (and after that last Canadian winter this Texas boy is ready for it!!) and I have jobs and a bike that needs to be ridden...

Yup, you'll feel like a rich man when you're done paying tuition bills.  My father-in-law said it's a great investment in your kids, it keeps them from coming home.

Alas, my oldest is just finishing his freshmen year at UC.

Hello from Finland,

I registered here a while ago just so I could see the pictures. I guess it's time to write something...

I started woodworking few years ago when I was watching Norm Abram (no surprise there). I managed to make a few furniture pieces with my fathers junk power tools, but I was always dreaming about Festool products which seemed to be light years ahead of other brands.

I told myself to buy only the best tools out there and never waste money on junk. Ironically, having very little money; I turned into a hand tool woodworker. I have bought Veritas hand planes, saws, SHAPTON stones, built a Roubo bench, made hand-cut dovetails etc.

After the very important hand tool experience I have once again started to gain interest on power tools to make my woodworking faster and better.

Yesterday I picked up my first Festool product; TS 55 with two guide rails. :) Haven't had the change to test it yet, but it seems to be a very impressive tool.

Next I will be buying the CTL 22. After that, OF 1400. ;D

Now excuse me, I will take my systrainer to the garage. ;)
