Domino and Mini Vac

OK anybody out there know if the mini is a good match with the Domino. Are the CFM's, capacity big enough to handle what the Domino can throw at it?

The MINI works quite well with the Domino and I would bet that particular package (Domino/CT MINI) will be a huge seller with installers. It's a good match.

Gary,

All tools will work with the MINI, but  for tools like the 850 planer, 1400 and 2000 routers and the TS 75 saws, the smaller capacity as well as the lower suction would make the MINI less than optimal, which is why those tools are not offered as a package deal with the MINI.

I have a (somewhat) related question concerning the CT-Mini. Would it be suitable for general in-house use on carpeted and wood and concrete floors? My current home vac does a lousy job on edges and corners; also I have two shops. My basement shop is about 250 sq. ft. (the rest of the basement is a bar, wine cellar, pantry, and bath/utility room) my main shop (650 sq.ft.) is upstairs in the barn, where I have a CT-22 with Boom Arm. I don't like heating the barn full-time and my current heater takes too long to get warm from 30 deg. My thinking is if the CT-Mini coiuld replace my house vac then I could more easily justify the Domino-CT-Mini package. A couple of my concerns; does the CT-Mini accept the self-powered brush attachment and is a long-life bag available? I have 3 cats and 2 long-haired dogs and can fill a normal vacuum bag easily. Matthew please feel free to move this post. I just thought the justification angle was kind of cute.in fact you could probably start a separate thread on the wily ways members have convinced "the accounting and finance" department that their next Festool purchase would actually save them money.

Yes, the MINI will accept the same vac tools as the other CT's, but just doesn't have the same suction, I think it would work, but not as well as the 22. The Longlife bag is not available for the MINI.

I am a sick man.  I recently bought the CT 22 as i had a couple of projects in the house and did not want to lug the 33 up the narrow/steep stairway from the cellar.  I have since been reading all the hype about the domino, but had just about talked myself out of buying (I'm going to win the raffle anyhow, so what's the problem?) the tool.  Today, I had to take a trip to my local toystore to pick up a TS blade I had left for sharpening.  As I walked into the store, I noticed the Domino toy with all soorts of scrap pieces that others had practiced making mortices on.  I went over to look a little more closely when all of a sudden, the WW demons grabbed my hands and made me pick up the toy.  My hands, with no direction from my brain, started fiddeling with the controls and adjustments.  I will vouch that they are all very easy to reach and adjust. Too easy! I had to force my way back out of the store   .  To answer the original question of this thread, upon looking at the sizes of the tennons and the size mortices the machine makes, I see no problem with large voluums of chips unless a heck of a lot of morticing is being done.  I am not used to thinking in terms of metric, and so really had no visual concept of the actual sizes of the tennons, but they are small and it would take a lot of cutting to fill one of the bags on the 22 or 33, i would guess.  Anyhow, I don't dare go back there.  Unless we get some snow to plow (my winter income) as I am sure to get struck by those Festoy demons again and bring something home that the Boss will say does not fit the budget; and then I'll be dead  :'(

That was my thought to Wayne. I just don't know if I am willing to give up the Hepa's that the 22 and 33 have, for sanding I think they may be a good thing.

I'll wish for some snow so you can pop for one of those Domino's as well.

I've bought a Festool Mini here in the UK and the end of the hose does not fit around the Domino's DX port! Help!

I use my Domino with my Mini and have no problems with it extracting seems to work fine... I even used my Mini ith the PC 557 Biscuit Joiner as well with no issues

I looked into this and found that :-

a) the nominal measurements for the hose and connector were not the same as the actual measurements
b) the hose does fit, but it's REALLY tight and you can see the plastic flexing from side to side as I angle it on.
