Couple of comments. Firstly, Popular Woodworking magazine did a study a couple of years back trying to determine most effective
gluing strategies. Main findings were that it doesn't take much glue to make a strong bond and that it really does help to glue both surfaces.
I use a trimmed acid brush like the poster above. By the way, they are washable and will last pretty much forever if you wash off the glue before
it is totally dry. I get a few years use out of each brush. Crazy frugal for a guy who buys Festools, huh?
