Guys help!

I recently purchased a used but looks like ok Festool XL Domino from a surplus store...i did check if the motor is ok and see the side to side movement of the mortising bit...but at hindsight, the speed wasnt good and relatively low and definitely less than 20k rpm...but i guess this probably is the rpm for a bigger bit..

to my dismay, the tool wont make a mortise and would wobble and vibrate perhaps due to the low rpm (i guess around 4k only comparing it a drill at high speed).

btw i have  the smaller domino df 500 and compared the two..the speed is definitely wont make a mortise!

from my experience, the variable speed selector when it mulfunction, you will be left with the max speed and lost the lower speeds..but this tool has a fixed speed and i wonder what went wrong.

any suggestions on my next move? thanks a lot to all!

Had the same problem with my 700. It was repaired the diagnosis is below:

Festool Tool Problems / Re: Domino XL 700 slowing down and stopping

Hi

My Domino did the same and also came from the UK
I know exactly how you feel and at one point I was contenplating sending my machine on a 12000 mile repair trip!
After an epic 10 month battle with Festool I managed to get it repaired.
This was the diagnosis, I hope it might be some help

On inspection item 10000427 - the PTC resistor, was found to have been pushed in too far making contact with the armature(most likely on assembly), resulting in a blown component. We will order a new part and complete assembly of the tool on receipt.

Cheers Dibnah

You should contact The FESTOOL repair shop for your area.  Who knows, perhaps it is under warranty.

thanks for your feedbacks..surely, they made my mind reeling..hehe
as of this writing, the surplus store agreed to return my money without question.
but it was a good deal for that xl700! Darn...
if the root cause is electronics then hands down. i cannot do it.
what an awful experience!

i am still welcoming thoughts for this thread btw.
cheers!
