I have a Festool 1400 EQ router and wonder what dovetail jigs will work best with it.  Rocker has a good jig but says the guide bushing has to be 7/16 in diameter.  The bushings that come with the 1400 are 5/8 and 3/4.  Does it matter that the bushing doesn't fit the jig exactly?  I have seen pictures of very wide spaced dovetails and surely they are cut using a busing that has to move side to side in the jig a little.

I have been thinking of getting the Akeda jig and wonder if it will work OK.

Thanks

Novice Dave,
The Leigh Super jig that I have been using with the 1400 works very well. The learning curve wasn't too bad and the results are first rate.  Be forewarned that the Leigh line of jigs are pricey, but even the super jigs (their lower priced models) have user adjustable spacing.
Hope this helps,
Brian

Tom:

I had only one adapter rind in my sustainer box (unless I lost one).  The two bushings both work in it.  It has a 1 3/16 diameter hole the bushings fit into.  I'm let to believe the PC needs 1 1/4.

Dave, you should have gotten this part with your 1400. Guide bushing adapter.

I use both the Leigh D4Rpro and the
Omnijig with the 1400, 2200 and 1010, just use the adapter ring and use the bushing the jig may call for. The Leigh requires a 7/16 bushing and the PC Omnijig requires a 5/8. Due to the finger setup for through dovetails the Leigh uses and 8deg and the OJ uses a 7deg. Each have their own bushing as theyre a little different id as what you might buy off the shelf from a box store.

Hit the send to quick.
The Rockler jig is the same. I had one once as a kit, and it had the bushing and two bits in the kit.

Tom:

I got one that looks like the one you referred to.  It has a 1 3/16 inside diameter.  Is that the one that is suposed to fit  the PC bushings?

Thanks

I'm repeating myself, but the pistol grip configuration of the OF1400 is in no way ideal for using on a DT jig, a symmetrical handle layout provides far superior ergs. I've tried it, right shoulder gets tired pretty quick from being elevated. Don't get me wrong, I love the router- it stays on my MFT most of the time and I use a 1100w Makita and a OF2000 w/ Router Raizer on my D4R.

'Sorry for the delayed response, Dave...

You should have a chip catcher for edge work and a PC bushing adapter. Both snap into the bottom of the router. The bushing adapter has a stepped hole that is about 1-3/16" diameter and is all steel. It's part number 493566:
