Dust deputy not very secure on CT 26

I have the Dust deputy and a CT 26 and they work very well except the connection to hold the deputy to the CT26 is not very robust. The latches just are not doing a good job for me. If I try to move the vac somewhere and make the mistake of grabbing the deputy to move the whole stack it often comes apart at the connection.
I am thinking I need to make a plywood platform for the deputy and secure that to the CT 26. Or maybe I am just doing it wrong. Has anyone connected theirs with the latches and felt it was a solid and strong connection

Thanks for your input

Can't speak to the current version of the Ultimate Dust Deputy, but I own one of the originals, their very early production unit. And yes, the fit to the latches on any of my Festool Vacs is not that good. I've learned not to move the vacuums by way of the DD on top too much. I actually had to modify one of the 'foot tabs' on my DD when I got so it worked with the latches on the Vacs better.
I've heard the later production models got better about this molded area on the bottom of the DD units.
To the OP, is yours old or a new one?

Mine must be one of the older units, though I just bought it about a year ago, maybe just old stock. The latches barely connect and do not stay latched if even the slighted bump occurs. I guess I will need to do some re-engineering to make it more secure.
