Hi, does anyone know where I might find some info on building a dust extraction setup for my pilar drill? It's set up in the garage and used mainly for drilling 35mm cup hinges, a messy job. I've managed to get hold of a small old dust extractor to rig up to it, just wondering how best to do so in order to collect most of the dust.

Thanks,

Rob.

Hi Rob,

I had the same idea to set up my ct22 to suck up the dust when drilling holes for cup hinges. What i did for a quick fix was use the wire from a welding rod, make a small hole in my drill press top close to the back and wrap the other end around the hose. Then just get the hose as close as you can to the top of the work piece and right next to the bit. I sucked up 99 percent of the chips and dust, and im sure you know there are alot of chips that come from that one silly little hole.

Hope that helps,

Wayne

A product like LocLine works well for drill press operations, as the hose segments easily move to any position as needed.
