It's butt & bead MDF sheets pre primed. I glue and staple the backs on with a narrow crown stapler

Yeah its all a rush for Christmas my painter is starting Friday. Air con is a bit odd, they had aircon unit there before in the old units. Then got a new air con when the old units were removed. They don't use it much as we're in the UK lol, so when used they just open the cupboard doors. Very odd as I say lol

Got the last unit made up today :). Then I started to level and fix them all. I've used angle brackets to fix the units to the rear wall these are then hidden by the next unit.

I've fitted the first fluted section today. I used pocket hole screws to attach them to the shelf edge ends with glue. Then the units are pulled together with glue on the carcase edge and shelf edges. I fired a few 18g brad's through the flutes into the carcase and also screwed the carcases together with screws and a 2x1 packer placed behind the fluted sections. This worked perfectly :)

Nice job on the fluting, and I haven't said that since I spent the night with that girl from the orchestra.

She played the violin.

Yeah they came out nice. I'm just glad everything is lining up perfectly. The faces are all nice and flush.

My Decorator is starting Friday so I'll be back to the workshop to finish off the doors and loose shelves.

Reminds me of American pie. "This one time at band camp" :)

Good job. Looks great, it's a great feeling when your project leaves the workshop a) because you get the space back! & b) when it all fits as it should and the stress/anxiety levels settle down.  Nice job to end the year.

Yeah my thoughts exactly. I'm enjoying this bit and best of all the customer came back from a weekend away and they love it.

Finished last night at 8pm :( all the fluted bits scribed in and everything is level and fixed now. Just popped in this morning to check the Decorator was OK and to fit the top infill. For this I just run some MDF strips through my router table using a corner bead cutter. I scribed these in against the ceiling to finish off .

Just the doors, loose shelves and plinth to finish now while my Decorator gets on. The units are being painted in an f&b colour called "clunch"

Looking great Chris. Really nice job there; can't wait to see it all painted and lit up.

Those little Space-Plugs get everywhere don't they!  [wink]

Looks really good.
But I reckon it'll look fantastic once painted.
Thanks for the wip, it's been very informative.
Cheers.

Cliff Petit, the inventor of the Space Plug, contacted me ages ago and asked if I would make a video about his new gadget. He came to visit and he left some samples. I managed to get it done in time for him to do his pitch to Screwfix.

Cliff is a really nice guy and deserves the success of his product given how much he has put into it all.

Yeah I remember when he first thought the idea up years ago. Hes a member of the kitchen fitters forum and everyone was always pulling his leg about these things. I met him and Jonny round boy recently at the screwfix live event.

Got all the doors sanded, trimmed , hinge holes drilled and beading fitted today. Finished off the 7 loose shelves yesterday.

Just gotta wait for my painter to finish it all then I can pop in over Christmas to fit everything.

Great work [big grin] [big grin]

Do you domino the doors, add 6mm mdf pegs in the groove for the panel, then cover this with paintable edge banding?
