Fast Cap Fence

Hi, did not build my own extensions but did buy their Pro 3 system for the Kapec, it is a well laid out set up for the saw.  The extensions for the cost are well worth it.

I ended up building my own wings as well as the attachment point but later discovered that you can actually buy all the parts that are used with the festool UG extensions for fairly cheap as parts from festool directly    this is all taken from festool's EKAT and to the best of my knowledge are the parts that are necessary to assemble one attachment point (ends up very similar to the fastcap but all festool parts)

the first column of numbers (2,3,4,5....) are just the diagram numbers and are not part of the item number, you can disregard these

Ug wing connection point w/hardware    X 2 all parts and prices
2 228566 Square nut M6                         1 $0.90
3 451630 Feather key                         1 $2.59
4 479734 Auflageblech                         1 $10.22
5 228541 Hexagon nut M6                      1 $0.78
6 700472 Lug support                         1 $6.12
7 486202 Rotary knob M6                      1 $2.41
8 200684 Cheese head screw M6 x 12 1 $0.78
33 207813 Pressure spring                 1 $0.78

I used small toggles as the attachment method, they work good but i think if i was to do it again i would buy these pieces and go this route

Anyone bought the Kapex adapters and made their own extension? $25 seems pretty decent...

This might be useful for making an MFT/3 table extension as well.

I've been waiting for nearly 5 years for something like that to appear.

Anytime,  if you end up going this route make sure to post pictures and let us know how it goes!!

So we have three stands currently. This one isn't used so it will be my starting point.

This is how our other saws mount to it. I have a couple brackets laying around so I'll use them but I don't want to mount the Kapex permanent.

I started with an mdf base and drilled holes so the rubber feet with drop in. Then I recessed the mounting hardware for the stand bracket so it's not in the way.

Next in order for the saw to come off of the platform quickly if I want, I drilled for these inserts. We have a ton laying around. They are 1/4-20.

I drilled holes so I can screw it down through any of the factory holes in the Kapex. I installed the inserts from the bottom so they wouldn't pull out.

I bought Philips cap screws to mount the saw with. I wanted an Allen head to match the Allen key that's on the saw, but 1/4-20 is smaller. I always have a Philips screwdriver somewhere close.

Part 2 will be my fence extensions....

So here is where I am at. Still needs works but it breaks down easy and is light. Also I like the plywood because I can write on it...screw stops to it, and it won't mare my trim.
