Felt, or Some Other Floor Protection

Hello,

I am in the process of building another large table and I am using a huge walnut slab this time.  The base for this table will be a steel base with large steel plates that will contact the floor.  The overall weight of this table will be 400-500 lbs.  I am looking for a product like the small felt pads you can buy to protect your hardwood floors from scratching but in a large size.  I am looking for something in the neighborhood of 12"x24" or near that size.  Any suggestions where this type of material can be acquired?  I've seen the protectors in FELT and RUBBER and some other materials but never in the size I need.  FELT is preferable because it will not stick to the hardwood floors.  I did contact one company but they have a 5 yard minimum, a bit too much material.

Woodcraft sells their felt/velvet in rolls 24"x36" with peel and stick backing for $31.50 per roll and is in various colors.  Bill

I've bought felt in various sizes and thickness' from EBay.

When I've needed to cover a large surface, I just purchase a lot of the largest size they offer and then gang them together to fill the surface area I want.

Craft stores often carry smaller pieces of felt.

You can buy felt in different thickness' on Ebay.  I bought an 1/8" x 72" x 120" a while back.
