Festool 36mm(straight) braided hose

Made by Wessel-Werk.

Yup, and all these can be found on Nilfisk’s vacs too. Could be way cheaper to buy Nilfisk (they don’t print their name on them)

the new is just a sleeved rib hose

It actually isn't...

It really is way better than a 'sleeved rib hose'.

Thought I’d add comparison images of 3 of Festool’s most common nozzles.
The with measured is 260, 300 and 370mm
The 300mm nozzle is substantially better in all departments compared to the smallest, which do also is missing wheels.

Very nice comparison. Isn't the smallest one 270 instead of 260?
The 370 being the #452908
The 300 being the #452907
The 270 being the #452906

I own the 370 and the 270, but from some family members that use my stuff I always get the complaint that the 270 "is much better" [sad]

The 270' lower side can be changed between bristles, rubber flaps and a hard thingy for carpet.

I think a few  years ago the choice in the metal ones was bigger??

For 50mm there is also the 450 wide #452910

Also note that the 50mm cleaning set D 50 GS-RS #454770 contains the D 50 QD and the D 50 BD 370 (comparable to the D 36 BD 300), neither being available separately (except throught EKAT ofcourse). I guess they don't sell that much 50mm stuff.

I have some 50mm stuff, but am missing the hose. For years already. Can't really justify spending 200 bucks on a 4m 50mm AS hose...

There is a conical 51-38mm hose from Airbo, but no idea how that connects...

Thanks to all who gave positive feedback on the new 36mm hose I ordered the Workshop kit.
Funny as it sounds, this is the most excited I've been about a tool accessory.  LOL

I was pleasantly surprised to see all the changes that Festool has implemented with the new kit.
The new hose also has a suble, twist lock type fitting which corresponds to the twist lock on the handle attachment.
I also like that the handle has a slider to open up airflow.  I imagine this will come in handy if I get any blockage.

The new kit also comes in a Sys version 3.  Not sure if I'll keep that since I don't store the hose/tools in it.  And the Systainer 4/5, whatever the new size is, makes for a bulky box to store other items.

The part I'm also super excited about is the Workshop wand.  Man!  That thing works so much better than the plastic one that came with the Tradesman kit.  The plastic head just pushed dirt around my shop and was constantly getting clogged.
The metal head glides above with the wheels and grabs the dust/debris with a pass or two.

Also, the new hose is most definitely more flexible/easy to use as mentioned by other posters.  I was always swearing at the ribbed 36mm.  The new hose just goes where I want, no fuss, no muss.
It's funny how those seemingly expensive accessories end up making a simple task much easier and/or more enjoyable.

It is, an excellent kit, the new edition makes all the difference. I’ve compared to some of the quality kit that for central vacuums, and considering that it comes in a useful box, a nozzle that’s probably the only which can survive a rough concrete floor, the price isn’t bad.

I did some light sanding on top of my MFT today, and it stroke me how stiff and rigid the old ribbed AS hose is. It’s just bearable since it’s on the boom arm, but still.. after getting used to either the grey plastic hose or the new AS hose it’s a world of difference.

I jumped the wagon and did order the other kit too with the ordinary grey hose with plastic tubes and the 300mm nozzle + the brush and furniture nozzle. I really needed a dedicated kit for my home as I’m without a regular household vac for the moment, and are using my CT MIDI and CT SYS as it suits. It too is perfect for lighter duty.

[member=8955]Coen[/member] I did measure the “270” with a tape measure, but it was with the brush attachment, I think with the carpet attachment it could be easily 10mm wider...

[member=65755]jarbroen[/member] Thats good to hear.  I had the Tradesman kit but the plastic wand pieces kept separating during operation, so it went back.  You don't see anything like that with the metal version?

I have the older version with the ridged hose, and all metal wand (not the plastic curved wand).  The straight metal sections stay together very well, and can actually sometimes be difficult to get apart to go back in the Systainer.

[member=72312]Rick Herrick[/member]  The metal tubes lock together really well, I don't see them coming apart.  Even the tradesman kit I had a hard time pulling the metal sections apart when I wanted to.  I did have a problem where the hose wouldn't stay on the wand with the Tradesman kit.  Any kind of tension and it popped off.  The new locking profile seems like it will prevent that from happening on the wand.  I also like that the twist lock style isn't quite as aggressive as the version used on the 27mm ends.  That one can be kind of a PITA because it's so stiff.  The 36mm version seems like it's functional, but much more flexible and easy to connect.

Same, but the negative is that the curved metal part doesn't have the valve in order to 'release' stuff that is being sucked up but can't get in / isn't supposed to be sucked up... like towels, curtains, etc.

Rick Herrick;
- I have a completely different experience with the plastic wands.. they stick well together, and are by far the best quality and most rigid wands I’ve ever used.
I do actually prefer the plastic ones as they don’t mar things and are super light.

Though, I’d like a one-piece rigid plastic wand to go with the 3 piece set which can be put away for more mobile use.
I’m on the lookout for a compatible telescopic metal (preferably aluminium) wand that will stay in the shop.

Festool has a full length wand in metal for the 50mm hose; tempting..

Does the 50mm one-lenght one have a bleeder valve? I was tempted by it too because of rigidity.

I think the telescopic part won't work that well with the kind of dust the CTL's are used for...

Thats interesting.  When I am on concrete, it did ok but I have a few small rugs in the garage to clean feet before going in the house and when I used it there, it took lots of patience to not have to start to bend and separate.  I did not know about a 1 piece wand.  I think I would really like that better anyway.  I will check that out.  Thanks [member=71478]FestitaMakool[/member]

Your welcome, Rick. It may have to do with very fine concrete dust getting in between, have you tried cleaning inside/outside where the ends meet? I do very rarely do concrete dust, so..
I have to pull hard to separate the tubes.

And no, I don’t think the 50mm wand has a bleed valve, but I have not seen it in person.

So far I have seen some wands that has 34mm outside diameter from other manufacturers of telescopic or full length wands. I suspect Nilfisk does the same - I actually have two floor nozzles on the way that is Festool compatible (one is identical to the 300mm parquet nozzle but for Nilfisk)

Does anyone have a part number for the Workshop kit referenced in post # 23? I looked all around on Festool US and didn't find it. I did find the metal vac head though.
