How did you get full depth of plunge without moving the saw? How are you holding the blade at full depth. Once the gauge has been calibrated/referenced nothing can be moved.
The saw needs to be secured so it can't move at all. Reference face needs to be the bottom of the base plate.
Again, the saw can be adjusted if the blade is out of square to the base.
You gauge is great for stationary equipment (within it's +/- 0.2º tolerance), not the best choice for a hand held tool.
