Festool cs70 Table saw + Mafell Multi-purpose Guide Fence MFA

Hello.

I have a simple question , does any one know if the mafell Multi-purpose Guide Fence MFA for the mafell erika push-pull saw will fit on festool cs 70  does they have the same attachment system?
It's a very clever guide fence, I talk to one of the festool demonstrator here in sweden when he showed me the new festool tool line, and he talk and compared the cs 70 to the mafell erika pull-push saw as he also like very much,
because he did some woodworking on his spare time so he really knew what he was talking about  and he thought mafell had very clever solutions for there guide rail systems for that saw.

I did forget to ask him if that guide rail system will fit on the cs 70 or any festool table/saw so does any one know?

I would email both companies to get sizes. Did you already buy the Festool CS70?

The extrusion holding the unit looks very much like what is on the CS70. It has the same dovetail shape but I would not know if the mounting heights are the same. I like that set-up too. I have been looking to emulate it on my CS70 but have not had time to move it to the head of my to-do list.

Even though they look similar, I wouldn't count on them being the same size.

Why do you think the Mafell fence is better than the one that comes with the CS70? Except for the knobs which are a bit of a PITA, I think the standard CS70 fence is pretty good and versatile.

But I doubt there will be much people here who have both a Mafell and a Festool CS70 saw, so you're best off emailing both companies for info, as was already suggested.

I have the mafell version of the saws I honestly can't say if the multi function fence will fit the cs70 I got the Erika 70 which comes with the same style fence as the cs70 both will be as accurate as each other and there is nothing wrong with either fence I have bought the multi purpose fence since as it offers several advantages. One being when you are cutting 90 degree cuts with the
Multi function fence and then want to go to a 45 you will need slide the fence out of the line of the saw blade , where with the multi purpose fence you simply do not as the cutting distance from the saw blade is always the same. When the fence is set up correctly all the sizes on the guide rail are 100% accurate. If you want to make a square cut 400mm you can just hold the timber at 400 and the cut will be 400, now the clever bit is if you want to make an angle cut of any angle to the long point of 400 you can still just hold the timber at 400 and the long point will be exactly 400. Also you can set the fence and 45 and can do both left and right mitres  with out adjusting the fence here's a vid showing

Alex - I would like to have the multi guide fence for those reason wrightwoodwork describes the multi fence gives it the extra touch to the saw

Kinda sounds like you should sale the CS70 and get the Erika.  Would be an upgrade in more than one way.

I thought I'd revive this thread since the OPs original question was never answered. I have to agree - at least in photos, the dovetail shapes common to each extrusion share at least a passing resemblance. So, can anyone who owns both an Erika and a Festool miter fence/miter gauge (say, from an MFT/3 or CMS or CS50/CS70) confirm or disprove this?

[Note - I'm aware this photo shows an earlier iteration of the Mafell fence - it's just the best representative image I could find of the extrusion.]

Not, of course, that the Festool miter gauge can't be jigged to mimic the unique attribute of the MFA!
