Festool Jigsaws: How clean do they cut?

OK now it's getting even more interesting, Shane just posted this in another thread, a Carvex  ??? That's not on the FestoolUSA website. Is it yet to be released in the US? If so when and how much?

EDIT: I did a search and found out it was supposed to be released in 2011 but that was cancelled. So now it's back. When will it be selling this time?



 
Thanks for the info guys. Oh man, they're not coming soon enough! I need to retire this Dewart ASAP and the Carvex is the shiznit!!  BTW, what is JLC?
 
I get great cutting surfaces when using my PS 300.  However, the sight line is a bit tricky to follow.

That is a very nice improvement over my PS 300,  who wants to buy a slightly used jigsaw [wink]

Oof... my PS 300 is still in it's 30 grace period. May have to return it and wait for the Carvex. That thing looks amazing!

In person, does the strobe light look less... uhhhhhh..... seizure-inducing?
 
Paul, JLC = Journal of Light Construction.  Seth attended the JLC event in March called JLCLive!  Festool USA had a fabulous event the day before the show opened called Festool Connect.  The Carvex was on display there with other tools for attendees to touch and feel.  I know I spent some time with them.  Somewhere there even is proof that it did happen.

And of course it can be turned to strobe, constant on, or off.
 
Personally i switched the light to 'permanent on ' . The strobe wasnt for me . Also if you cut upside down the light automatically  switches off .
 
I cannot wait for the Carvex.  What happened to the consolidated Q&A that used to be up top?  It was cool in the video to hear that the battery powered saw will cut 60-65 linear feet on a charge.  Love the flip-up cord too on the corded option.  Great explanation of the bases and their purposes.

My take on the new Carvex is this. If you're not interested in the interchangeable bases, the light options or the cordless options then save $100 and go for the Trion. The blade guide system and splinterguards are identical after all and those are the key issues for me.
 
When I first saw the videos of the Carvex, I instantly wanted one. It is just so cool. After the long delayed availability, I have come to realize that I really don't need all the bases or the cordless operation. On very rare occasion I have to tilt the base on my 300 model and 98%+ of my cuts are vertical. So, unless you really need the features, the existing jigsaw model works great. Only knock I have with it is visibility and would love to have the built in light to make it perfect.

The light and better dust shroud are the big features for me, the bases are a great extra, cordless isn't important for me either.
 
I don't know from actual use, but based on the way the suction tube is designed the DC should be better than the Trion.
