Does Festool make an adapter to allow the offset chuck that comes with the T18+3 to work with the centrotec system?  Although you can fit the centrotec bits into the chuck, they do not lock.  Thank you.

I would doubt is as what ever additional kit it required would increase the clearance needed ... defeating the purpose.

This is just an opinion though.

I have to agree with Kev, in that adding a Centrotec chuck somewhat defeats the purpose of the offset chuck.  The offset chuck does have a collar that locks in wire-detent bits.

While I don't have the BE-CE Drill Adapter (496450) yet, this item could be placed into the offset chuck (if it does in fact have a 1/4" shaft) to accept the Centrotec chuck.  However, it doesn't look to have the wire-detent grooves that would keep it locked into the offset chuck -- but, maybe you could modify this adapter to make this work for you.  That's about the only way I see to mount Centrotec bits onto your offset chuck.

BE-CE Drill Adapter

Hi fldange,

Welcome to the FOG!  [smile]

Good question. Though the Centrotec chuck would reduce the clearance it could still get pretty close.

Corwin,

That adapter might just do the trick if it fits?

Seth

The BE-CE adapter will not fit the Fastfix Eccentric 1/4" adapter.
Because it's meant for use in regular drills with Jacobs chucks so that the Centrotec chuck can be fitted.
The shaft measures 8 mm and that to wide for the 1/4"-6,3 mm standard bit dimension.

The offset (eccentric) chuck is made to work with wire detent bits. It will accept any 1/4" hex shank bit but the bit retaining system is for wire detent.

Thank you all for your responses.  Yes, the centrotec adapter in the centrotec kit will not work as that is made for a keyless chuck.  While I realize regular drive bits will work, I would have liked to use my centrotec bits.  The adapter I was hoping Festool made would be like the locking centrotec adapter.  It would still be thin and allow me to use my centrotec bits.  I was not thinking of attaching the centrotec chuck as that would then make the front of the drill too wide and defeat the purpose of the offset chuck.

It sounds like this does not exist.  Thank you.

Shane, the locking collar off the offset chuck is made to work with ball detent bits (at least the one that came with my c12 is  [wink])

If they made it a wire detent collar, like on the bhs 65 ce bitholder it would hold the centrotec drill bits better. They won't have the extra guidance of the centrotec chuck, but they won't pull out of the chuck when you retract the drill from the hole (like they do now)

The offset, while handy, I haven't used much lately but i seem to recall it working with ball detent bits.
