With a new MFT 1080, TS 55 and Domino, I'm ready to Festoolize a project.  After looking things over, I was sorry I didn't order an extractor.  I tried to rig up my shop vac and instantly got disgusted with myself for attempting to put a bowtie on a pig.  I have a CT22 on the way and should get it Monday or Tuesday.  I've put everything in their systainers and will wait until I can hook them up with the CT22 to test and calibrate.  In the meantime, I set my MFT up as my tablesaw outfeed table last night.  I'm not particularly happy with a couple of things that I assumed incorrectly about the MFT, however, I'll make it work.

Anxiously awaiting my CT22.

Hey Mot.  Good choice on the extractor!

Whats the rub with the MFT, maybe we can help?

I bought the MFT to use as my outfeed table.  How I have my shop setup and the setup of the MFT sort of bound me up.  I had originally planned to have the guide rail hinge on the opposite side of the table from the saw so I could get the MFT as close to the saw as possible.  Well, with the orientation of the MFT parts and my shop, I end up with about a mirror image of what I wanted and no real way of correcting it.  I'm not sure I'm explaining myself, but the setup of the MFT is basically to have the guide rail hinge at the back and have it cut along the right side of the table to match the plunge cut saw.

What I didn't realize, having never seen one, was the assymetrical nature of the table with regards to my intended usage.  Soooooo...to fix this, I bought a 1400 rail, and move the stops to the short sides and now run the guide rail lengthwise.  I put a piece of UHMW tape on the bottom of the mitre fence so it now slides on the tablesaw that is coplanar to the MFT.  Now it's a big square MFT/Tablesaw combo.  I'll take a picture when I get home.  I worked it out.  It was one of those problems that was solved by throwing some more money at it.  ;D

Cheers!

Unfortunately, lots of problems in my shop seem to get resolved the same way  >:(  On the other hand, we've already had some conversations about various Festool-induced syndromes, haven't we mot, so throwing more money in the Festool direction seems to kill two birds with one stone (not to take anything away from Simou, of course).
