Getting shocked from the DC hose

I saw a post here a few days ago about this, but I can't find it.    I noticed that making a cut with the CT36 + TS55 + dust deputy produces enough static to give a pretty good shock.  I used the copper tape on that 90 degree fitting.  Is there any way to fix this?

Yes, you can fix this.  You need to provide a complete unbroken circuit from your tool to your CT.  From other reports, the hose that Oneida provides to go between the DD and your CT is either not an antistatic hose, or at least fails to do a good enough job.  Also, the static-dissapating material that the DD cyclone body is made from may not contain enough carbon to work as good as it needs to.  But, you can correct these shortcomings.  It is just too bad that Oneida hasn't done a better job with their products -- it is not like they haven't already learned about these issues here...    [unsure]

ok, so a wire from where the festool CT hose connects to the cyclone to where the oneida hose enters the CT?  Makes sense.

I had the same problem.  I ran a wire from the inlet to the outlet of the dust deputy...this seemed to complete the circuit.  I also use a 50mm festool hose from the dust deputy to the the CT.

I'm super disappointed onieda didn't do a better job.  However, I do enjoy not buying bags anymore.

Hope that helps

Yes, their newer Ultimate DD designed just for our Festool CTs is curious at best.  It is obvious that they did read posts here during their product development, so it is surprising that their product fails to preform as required.  Most curious was how they elected to increase the carbon content for the canister's material when there is absolutely no need for the canister to be antistatic.  Furthermore, it would have been much better if one could see the level on the contents within the canister.  Worse yet, the cyclone body, fittings and hose that do need to be antistatic seem to not be good enough.

It is a shame that our patent office has given Oneida a patent on their product.  Obviously the patent office works on a first come, first served basis rather than investigating whether or not the applicant has actually come up with something new, or has just copied someone else's idea or product that has not already been patented.  If life were fair and just, then our patent office would have rejected their application on the fact that they did not invent the cyclone, and others were already manufacturing competing products.  Shame on Oneida and our patent office.  [mad]  That was just wrong.  [/rant]
