Howdy Folks,
Both Amana and CMT make cutters for both Domino machines. I have read really bad reviews of the CMT cutters but can find nothing on the Amana ones. Anybody here have any input?

I have not but I have always had good luck with Amana products so I wouldnt be scared to try them.  I did a quick comparison on Amazon and there wasnt a big difference in price disclaimer (I only looked at one size) so its possible there is a bigger margin on others.  For the 7 bucks I would probably stick with the Festool  but there was only one left So if it came down to having to wait for the Festool to be back in stock I would pick up the Amana.  Just my .02

I have a 4mm CMT cutter. Seems to work just fine in the Baltic Birch and poplar I've done with with it. I've only used it for maybe 100 cuts, but doesnt seem much different than the quality of my festool cutters, albeit poplar is soft and the the birch I'm not making very deep cuts with a 4mm bit.

I was a bit worried about CMT when ordering it originally because of the reviews on Amazon, but then I remembered like 98% of Amazon reviews will downvote for either a shipping issue or user error.

as afish said though, between amana and festool, unless it's a significant difference, I would just stick with the festool one probably. The CMT was almost half the cost of the festool.

My favourite table saw blades are Amana, but haven’t used their domino cutters - only Festool.

I have never used an Amana domino bit but I have 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, and 14mm bits from CMT and they work great.  My initial 14mm bit broke on the second or third plunge cut but Amazon replaced it quickly and the second one cut a bunch of mortises for my latest grandson's crib and is still working fine.  I have not used Festool pre made tenons with them but my home made tenons are the thickness of the bit, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, or 14mm (or 12mm to go with my one Festool bit).  For half the price, roughly, I will but only CMT bits.  The might occasionally make a bad bit but the general quality of their bits is very good.  I've used their table saw blades and router bits and been happy with them too.  I also use their blade cleaner and like it.

Just got a 10MM Amana cutter for the DF700 today from Amazon.  At $31.46, it's a little less than half the price of the Festool cutter.  Only did a small job (24 tenons), but seems like a good cutter.  Tenons fit just a hair looser than the Festool cutters, but so much that it would adversely affect a joint.  Nice and snug and still requires a good clamping to close joint when the glue is applied.  So far, seems like a great option.

I just got a 10mm Amana cutter two days ago. Tried on Baltic Birch and Maple ply scraps as well as some Sapele scraps and made a Fir foot stool with it; all cut all with no problems. Will have to report back after using it awhile but so far, so good.
