does anyone have the measurements of the mounting holes on the the bottom of the routers, 1010, 1400? Maybe a printable pattern than can be used to make templates for mounting plates? it would be nice to be able to print one out and go from there. thoughts?

All I've ever done is take the plate off that is now mounted to the router and use it as a template.

i am surprised that no one has made a template fore a drilling pastern for the routers. i hate measuring hole centers precisely, but i guess i will do it an post it.

Hey Tall,

Don't mean to sound like a smart ass, but you just don't need to measure it and hope you replicate it.  I was a Tool and Die Maker years ago, like 30, and with the clearance you will drill the holes, just marking the holes and eyeballing is close enough. Have you ever used transfer punches? Try these. They will give you a precise location to drill your holes on a drill press. This should be all you need. It's has worked for me.

don't worry about being a smart ass , I am a terminal smart ass. ;D  you are most likely right about eye balling it might work but i can not stand close enough that ends up being not really there, i find that "it will do" gets me in trouble as those tolerances stack up.  i have used transfer punches before and they are great, it just would be nice to print out the lay out and stick it on what ever i want to and drill away.  i will most likely do it the way you suggest.

I made a bunch of copies, but it was so long ago I forget how.  I think I used double-sided tape to attach a thin spacer between the router bottom and the blank.  Then used the holes in the router bottom to align the bit on the drill press.  Counterbores were probably made by eyeball.  Hope this helps.

Regards,

John
