If Festool offered the ______ (insert favorite NAINA), I would buy one today.

forgot to mention I am waiting to purchase the carvex also--I still struggle on a daily basis with the fact that I honestly don't believe it will be a full $100+ better than the bosch unit (with bosch's new systainer knock-off).  Yes I will still buy it because I can and it will look good in my collection but I'm starting to question myself if my festool obsession has anything to do with wanting leather Adidas when I was 11 and my mom buying some "pleather" fake at K-mart and telling me it was the same thing--or that it didn't matter or that we couldn't afford it...

"But we do know because the world is bigger than only America. Products that are deemed perfectly safe over here in Europe, where we also have insurance companies, are somehow not safe enough in the eyes of UL. How is that possible? Are Americans more stupid than Europeans? It seems that at least UL thinks so."

Ever think that maybe its the opposite.  :)

UL probably thinks we in the US are smarter and have better standards and that the people in Europe are to stupid to know what they are using is not safe. Maybe they also know that it is much more difficult , well until recently, for a European citizen to get their just due if a manufacturer screws up. We sue in America because we can, in a lot of countries they cant because the consumers and citizens have little recourse under the law. I wouldn't  trade the world to live anywhere but in the US, litigious society and all.  :).
Lump us Aussies in with the Europeans! [cool]
Australia is way more litigious than the US IMO....
Safety here is extremely stringent and enforced
Yet we have ALL the festools and protools.go figure
I think UL is BS.....jmo

Aren't the safest cars in the world made in the same country as festools [wink]

Hello, just wanted to post my two cents on this topic.

So if Festool offered a LUNCH BOX shaped like a systainer.  That would be a systainer that I would buy TODAY!

So let me know when they become available and where I can buy one [wink].

I thought about using a systainer as a lunch box......but I'm looking for a insulated systainer, to keep my food cool thru the day.
I know I could but ice packs in a systainer, but they wont stay cold for a long time.

Centrotec Set We're working to get a slightly customized version for the US, it's in the works and we hope to have something soon

You know, I wouldn't mind being able to just buy the sys-insert for the centrotec, so I can populate it as as I see fit...

It's just really tough to find a space efficient bit storage system. Maybe I should look at hacking up a drill index....

I thought about this post this morning as I was getting dresses. Is that sad or what?  [unsure]

what about a BELT BUCKLE?

I have a collection of belt buckles and a Festool one would be nice to go with my t-shirt, sweat shirt or with my fleece!

Hi Shane.
Just curious: when you say, about the prospects for some tools: "don't hold your breath," or "not anytime soon," can you give us some idea about why they are so out of the question?  A belt sander isn't such an odd item, for example.

festool has a belt sander, just not available in the states.
BS 105 E SET.

This is likely inside stuff that you won't likely see discussed publicly.  I wouldn't expect much of an answer if something was posted by Shane/Festool.  Frankly, I was a little surprised that we got the status report Shane posted.

Right.  As per topic, Shane was talking about NAINA.  So I'm curious why it would be out of the question to bring the belt sander (for example) or some of the other tools, to the US.

Whops.  Brice beat me to it, that time.  I was replying to erock.
Brice: fair enough.  I guess they aren't going to divulge all the details of their strategic thinking.

If we ever get the CMS here, even just for the router table, my hope is that it uses the exact same specifications for the TS55 insert as the one used in the rest of the world.  That way I can get saw insert for the TS55 in Europe and it will fit in the US version of the CMS.  This  will be the deciding point for me on buying the CMS unit here if it is ever offered.  I'm afraid after the Stopsaw Lawsuit, UL will never again approve a saw that doesn't have that type of safety device as part of the package.  I'm sure the older saws could be grandfathered in but the Festool way may never make it pass UL.

Victor, thanks so much for taking the time to tabulate the results thus far. I want to take a moment to address each of these, even though it's fairly common knowledge that some are scheduled to appear this year.

CMS                All I can say is "we're working on, we've been working on it, it's something we want as badly as any of you", cross your fingers
VAC-Sys          UL issues
RO-90             March 1
Belt sander     You won't see this any time soon
Carvex            June 1
Centrotec Set We're working to get a slightly customized version for the US, it's in the works and we hope to have something soon
WCR-100        March 1
CS-70,50 or Precisio   Don't hold your breath.
Shinex             March 1
WTS-7             I don't even know what this is, I had to look it up! No plans, basically an RAS with a 7mm stroke.
Planex             Working on it, no definitive ETA
Protool line      No idea what the long term plans are for Protool in the US, in the short term don't expect to see it
C1x drill with LiIon   June 1
wrench set      If you're talking about the ratchet set in the mini Systainer, I don't think we'll offer it.
Zobo cutters    Currently no plans
RS-200             Currently no plans
RS-300             Currently no plans
CSX drill            May 1
Toolie               Currently no plans to reintroduce this but I saw some listed in the classifieds here on the forum

I appreciate all of you contributing to this thread and I encourage those who haven't done so to voice their opinions. Thanks!

Shane,

Is Festool still on target with the 6/2011 release for the C12 and C15 drills?

Thanks!

Just a funny aside... I referenced NAINA in a PM to another member.
He wasn't familiar with it, and Googled the word.

[scared]     [eek]     [embarassed]

You know you're going to try it...  So here are my cautions:  Not at work... Or with SWMBO around.

I think we need to increase "NAINA" usage to get FOG to the top result!

Hey, she is a looker [eek]. You will have a hard time out ranking her with content oriented around tools.
