My wife and I had been discussing getting an air purifier for years, because of the local air...and now that there is so much woodworking going on in the apartment, (Come on, man! My festools can't get all of the dust!)  I/we decided to buy a Jet Air Filtration Unit for our small apartment.
Unfortunately, our landlord wouldn't let me mount the Jet Unit onto the ceiling. So, it was either return the unit to Woodcraft or get creative. Fortunately, I had just enough scrap in the corner to make something happen.
This project was made using the TS 75EQ, the Domino XL, Domino 500, OF 1400, and the ETS 125.  The table is on 3 inch caster wheels and the top is removeable - in case I need to service the unit.  (The 6x4 maple cabinet in the background houses most of my tools. I wheel in a home-made case with full extention drawers for festools, a workbench with the vac built in (still in progress), and most of my hand tools and measuring tools.
Obviously, the coffee table is not fine furniture, but it works better than expected.  We also put the unit on while sleeping. Now, we sleep better because the white noise blocks out most of the street noise and we wake without nose buggies. Fresh! Crazy, right?

Hilarious!

How much cutting are you doing in the apartment?

Let's see the tool cabinet too!

I'm in a Brooklyn apartment and have had to temporarily store my entire small woodshop in... the bedroom... [eek]

The whole thing is here, except MFT, some rails, etc..

Soon it will move on, but its amazing what you can do with systainers. Invaluable in tight situations.

Would like to see other posters in NYC, Tokyo, Paris, etc., or even small garages, show what kind of space saving they are up to.

Many thanks o the product designers at Tanos...

Just reviewing the pic- some of the Festool items are missing in that stack. But if the ceiling were 24" higher, it would all fit...

This reminds me to be thankful for what space I have. Love the ingenuity.

Thanks, guys!
Yes, all cutting happens right here.  If Festool didn't have super dust collection, then it would be impossible to operate.  That tower of cases made me laugh...I can identify...but having a seven year old daughter, that likes to do cart-wheels and hand-stands in the living room, makes that too scary for me.
I'll try to take pics and start a new thread on the cabinet next week.

Hey
This you Jim?

This is John from the Tool Nut road show, i emailed you the info on the rip dogs.

It was nice meeting you the other day,  I too would love to see pictures of the "cabinet"

John

Hey John! Yes, this is me.  It was great to meet you and Ryan, also. Thanks.  I will make an effort to post the cabinet sometime during the middle of next week.  My new Kapex is coming sometime eary next week and I want to figure out how to incorporate it into the cabinet. This will also hopefuly give me a chance to get comments, advice, and suggestions from you and some of the other talented guys on this forum for making some improvements.

Jim,
I look forward to seeing it,  congrats on the kapex! thats the next big thing on my list and i seem to quickly be loosing willpower  [big grin]

John

Thanks,  John! It's finally coming today...an unusual wait of nine days from Toolnuts...not their fault. So, I will be delayed incorporating the Kapex into my cabinet...hopefully, I will be able to get the cabinet closer to finishing sometime next week.  Nothing seems to happen as fast as I ever think it will.
John, I see the Rotex 90 in your signature.  I'm planning on ordering one when Toolnuts when they them in, next week. I'm tired of doing corners by hand...especiallly now that the carpal tunnel is acting up, again.  Are you happy with your Rotex 90? Or, is there something else that you'd recommend?
Also, I'm getting ready to stop setting up jigs for my router and buy either the CMS or the MFS.  Any thoughts or advice are always welcome.

Very nice improv for the air filtration! [smile]

I'm just surprised to see woodwork in NYC... I thought everything was just concrete and steel!! [big grin] [wink]

Dood,
You are awesome. I was bummed because I am setting up a small shop in  one car garage or less ( my HHGs are here ad once they come Ill figure out how much room I actually have for a workshop).

But you using every bit of available space wisely especially that air filter cab..

is just amazing to me.

Thanks, my friend! Yes, one of the commonalities that I am finding among woodworkers is the capacity to adapt to certain situations and invent solutions to new problems.  It's one of the things that I enjoy most about woodworking. A one car garage shop would be a luxury, at this point.  I spend a lot time breaking down and resetting up.  A lot of time on my hands and knees.  What a luxury it would be to leave something up for the next day, or to have another station to do a different task. One point of good advice, if you don't know it already...which is something that many of us big city dwellers learn early on, is that "you can always build up!" Good luck with setting up shop!  Please send me some pics when you have it going. Thanks, again.

will do, it'll be a while i had them shipped ad
nd they just went through customs, i hope to have them delivered next week or so
