Just got an OF1400!!!

I scored an unbelievable deal on a OF1400  [big grin]

So since i scored a deal on the router i have some funds available to get some accessories!

router bit systainer is already ordered, after that what accessories would you guys recommend for it? As much as i would love an LR32 system i just dont do enough cabinets with shelves to warrant it! i am also ordering a 20mm bit so i can finally build my paulk workbench! (that is where the lr32 system would be really nice)

Any recommendations? favorite router bits? i have quite a few from rockler and feud already. Are the festool bits worlds better?

Since you don't feel the need for the LR32-Set you might want to look up the MFS400 and 700-Sets.

Congratulations! It's all about the quality of the bits... Love Whiteside bits...I'd bet that the Festool bits are good, too.

Accessories I use the most; Edge Guide (492636), Guide Stop aka guide rail adapter (492601), and my new favorite the Table Widener (493233). The MFS system has proven to be really useful too, although given the current price I'm not sure I'd buy it again.

Get the table widener and small bore base. And if you don't have a 36mm hose, get one of the cleaning sets that includes it. The Festool bits are high quality, but I wouldn't rush out to buy them unless you need a specific one.

I'd also go for an MFS700.  I bought an MFS400 a couple of years back, not really sure how often I would use it.  I now can't imagine how I'd manage without it - I can't remember a recent project when I haven't used it.

Get a second guide fence.

The perspex guide thing is a joke - two fences let you centre the router on anything very accurately ... a must in my books.

One thought - when I bought my OF1400 I assumed I would never buy another router and bought only 1/2" bits. I then acquired an OF1010 which can't use 1/2" bits. With the benefit of hindsight I wish I had bought at least certain types of cutter (the ones where the benefits of larger colet size is less significant) in 8mm collet size so they could be used with both routers.
