Kapex laser

Well the time had finally come in the job where I get to use my new kapex. Unfortunately I have noticed that the laser is wider than the blade on both sides. I rang my dealer who said they don't do swaps and gave me the number for their rep who I rang. He told me to live with it until I can send it to the uk to get looked at and that it will take 7 working days.

Now I think that's terrible advice to get from a festool rep.

Do any if you guys know how I can safely solve this problem

You are welcome!  If a Supplemental Manual is available for other tools you can find it by going to the Festool USA website and selecting the tool,  On the resulting page there will be relevant support information and links on the bottom right hand side of the page.

Good Luck!

sorry to hear about this john. they are easily adjusted thow. i remember reading about the holes on the side. i thing one of the 3 is NOT to be touched for any reason,

were you talking to dave (he is my rep) he does demoes with an english man
he is fairly good. i bought a new mft 1080 and wanted another set of fench ataching brackets and flag stops. he sent them to me free of charge. cant get any better than that

Hi Alan no I was talking to a rep called Michael. He was of no help at all apart form suggesting to live with it or send it to the uk  [crying] Useless advice after spending €1230 on a brand new kapex. My dealer Tripart flat out said they won't swap it for another one as well

you could return it under the 30 day deal. il pm you daves no.
shame on tripart.
in MY eyes if any part of any purchase like this isnt working 100 % corectly i would return it.
threaten to return the saw  because its "faulty" and tell them if they dont there are other dealers around. ( i can think of  3-4 within 2 hours that have more than tripart)

it probably only needs adjusting thow

In the manual that I linked to it makes reference to the fact that in the process of making the adjustments the wrench should be removed at times because the weight of the wrench could cause a misreading.  It is not uncommon to have the lasers needing adjustment after you initially get one.

Tweaking the laser is not a big deal at all. I adjusted mine right after buying it. The hardest part about it was puncturing the sticker with the allen key.  [wink]  I clamped down a wide board and made a very shallow cut, then adjusted them till they just fall inside the kerf. I got it dead on now and can split hairs with it. Its nice not having to lower the head of the saw to line up your cut.

If a Supplemental manual exists, you can do one-stop-shopping directly from my website and see them all. You'll also notice that the CMS table has recently been added.
