Guys,
Want to put some zero clearance fences and insert on my Kapex - best material to use and anybody got a pattern ? Pics are helpfull too. THANKS

Frank

Betterley makes the zero clearance insert for the Kapex.  Festool products sells for $19.95.

The Kapex supplemental manual has a page on these, with dimensions etc for making your own zero clearance attachments and inserts - available on the Festool USA site.
The Betterly zero clearance insert is well worth the $20.

I had some cherry laying around for awhile. I made a bunch of blanks up. I just used the plastic ones to mark the hole locations.

I just used some 6mm moisture resistant mdf I had laying around to knock up some sub fences. I had been getting quite a few small offcuts banging through the gap in the middle of the fence so decided to make some. Only problem I have spotted is that you can't slide the fences out past the end of the base anymore with the UG wings attached. You have to slide the UG wings back slightly out of alignment to allow the fence to move.

I just took out the plastic insert that came with the kapex and used it as a template for hole placement. I measured the space for the insert and then cut some scrap walnut to fit. Planed it down to the correct thickness, dropped it in, screwed it down, and cut the groove. Very easy. I rubbed on some Johnson's paste wax and it has held up beautifully. I think it looks nice too.
