Latest TV unit job pre assembly ( Finished and installed )

Thanks for all the financial advice guys, i guess i need to take a closer look at my over heads for the year and so on. The price i did charge like i said was enough to keep me going for the month and still be able to put something away, but im not factoring in things like machine wear and tear and consumables. Im going to have to take all that in before the next job come in.

I dont know how long you have been doing this or if this is what you "DO". I loved woodworking as a hobby when I started to do woodwork as a source of income the biggest problem was looking short term like you are. I have 6 mouths to feed and bills to pay so i looked at it as if I do this for x.xx dollars it can pay the bills for the next month. I know that it is easier for me to tell you, but start charging more as soon as you do I promise that you will be in a better place. your work looks great CHARGE for it. In the last 8 months I have drawn a definitive line in the sand, I figured out an hourly rate that is fair to me and my customers and I do not work for any less. At first it was hard I lost some what i thought were good customers but I did not need them they only Used me. Today I have a great customer base I have more work than time in the week. Trust me this is the Time CHARGE MORE....

Hi James,

Thanks for the advice, your totally right i have not been looking at things in the long run only short term, I do this for a living and need to keep in mind that i want my business to grow and living hand to mouth is going to kill that idea if i dont change things. Im going to take some time and work out a hourly rate and go from there. If people are not willing to pay what i charge thats fine because custom handmade of anything should automatically mean your going to have to pay for it. If you want a cheap price go to a cheap store and by the generic stuff they have made by the hundreds. [dead horse]
