Latest Woodpecker OTT - Track Square

I am not sure I understand how the new slot on the redesigned tool works. A drawing or picture would have helped.

Did anyone else receive the Woodpecker survey? I did notice that there was not a comment section. I added a comment/complaint in the section on tools used.  Wonder if I will get a reply.

It looks to me like you'd put your clamp in the track then slide the square against your workpiece. The change just made clearance for the clamp.

Ya I did, thought is was kind of goofy though...
Woodpeckers questions: Are you willing to pay extra for tools made in the US?
What are your favorite woodworking tool manufacturers?

I don't know how my answer of early Powermatic products (pre-Jet) will help them much.  [huh]

It's gathering data which they will then analyze and potentially make decisions on.  Without the data they're just guessing.  I think it's very clever.

I guess you probably need to see all of the questions they asked. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Woodpeckers and own a ton of their OTT tools, but this survey was strange to say the least. I never did divine in which direction they were heading and what information exactly they were trying to ferret out.
Actually, after completing the survey and submitting it, I just sat and thought, what were they really looking for and how will this survey benefit their cause?

Time will tell...

I took the survey too.  I also felt the questions and intended purposes weren't obvious but am used to data mining activities because of what I do.  N their mind the answer to the questions likely hep them understand something they think they want to know about...like feedback from a group f buddies during a bench racing session.  To your point, unless we know what the intent was, we may not get it.

Woodpecker should be very careful how they analyze the data they are gathering.

Many years ago I read a book in which the author argued that the downfall of RCA as a major American company was greatly hastened by the huge amount of money that the company wasted on the development of the video disc. The disc and player never sold very well and was soon totally destroyed as a product by the VCR. Even before the VCR, the major problem was that each side of the disc only held about 30 minutes of pre-recorded material. A 2 hour movie meant changing a disc 3 times.

A retrospective analysis of the pre marketing research reveled that the research had been hugely biased in favor of positive ratings for the video disc. Proper research might have revealed that the demand for the product was going to be small and RCA could have invested the money in something else that might have kept the company going for a much longer time.

several examples of the new GRS-16 Guide Rail Square are already in the hands of several craftsmen around the country for evaluation at this time.
Hint: no more re-squaring after removing or even after installing the first time [smile]
