Library built-ins finally finished

I am doing a library right now. Where did you get the ladder kit/hardware? I like the top hooks, haven't been able to find that design.

The hardware kit came from Richelieu. U can search online. They are all bout the same. The top hook was actually fabricated at a metal shop. The kits u buy come with a hook, it just didn't work out for this project.  Be sitting down when u click on the price of those kits!!

Thanks

Fabricated.......that makes sense, I had searched every corner of the interwebs for those hooks. It is shocking how much the kits cost. The library I am building is for myself. I even dropped the floor two feet, making the ceilings 10' tall, all to justify getting a library ladder. Ha.

Wow!! U really wanted a tall ladder!  This room was only 8ft tall so it really didn't need a ladder but the lady was short and she likes the way they look.
Good luck.

Amazing work! I looks beautiful. How did you finish the shelves? Did you spray them, and is that hard to do? What type of setup do you need in order to spray?

I didn't finish the cabinets. We took them to our painters shop and he sprayed them. He makes it look easy!

What an excellent project.

Couple of questions:
- What happened to the carpet under the cabinets - did you cut it out or simply install over?
- What types of pins did you use for the shelves?

Thanks!

We just set the cabinets on the carpet. It made for a hard install, I couldn't slide the cabinets into place. The shelf pins were just simple nickel 1/4" spoon pins.

I made a jig to drill all the holes. I lost count but I think it was over 2000 holes!
Had something like 10 hours in just the holes.

Great looking project and nice solution to the problem.
I would have just made it an excuse to buy a LR32  [embarassed]

Had a couple(80) shelves to build.  Customer wouldn't the shelves the some thickness as the rails.  Made them with 1/2" plywood with a spacer in the middle to make them a full 2" thick.  Yes it sucked!!

I think the profile/thickness on those rails & shelves really makes this look good.

Thanks Tim.
I wish I could have used the LR32!  I had to use a odd spacing for everything to be evenly spaced.
