Line laser levels

I like it that you can adjust that stand for height.  Just off topic a little, what camera are you using to take the videos ?  I cant get pics on here, wouldn't know where to start with videos  [blink].

Cheers, Woodguy.

P.S - cool worktops  [smile]

Well I break phones and Camera all the time like I dropped my Leica I drop cameras and phones.

So I decided to buy the Panasonic DMC - FT1  really easy to use makes very good pictures and because its water proof and drop proof its brilliant for me lol I think every one should have one now perfect for Holidays when I go on the beach I dig a hole and hide it in the sand so I dont have to worry about any one pinching it and good for making videos underwater.

They have brought out a DMC FT2 now Im thinking of buying that I have had this one for 2 years now. The new one has more mega Pixels ( I know Mega Pixels isnt really that important as long as its more than 5mega pixels its enough)

but the thing I prefer the most is that is 10 meters water proof and mine is only 3meters and some pools are more than 3meters so if you do drop it with a 10 meter one you dont have to worry about it going to the bottom of the pool.

Also the new one has a higher drop resistance

Sorry if this was of topic but he did ask the question I just couldnt stop lol

cheers you cant see on the Video but its 2x  20mm thick granite with a V groove bit more character than just a 40mm thick top

Here you go as promised!

i see that bosch stand is far better, i also see you could do with a bit of easyfill not far above your [poke] skirting

Lol I saw that my self and thought some one might see that I was thinkin of redoing the video because of it but thought cant be bothered lol.  Well we had a painter come round and paint the entire house and he should of done it but he didnt.

Also the kitchen is abit of a mess at the moment!

cheers JMB thanks for the vids. Amazing how they make that mini tripod look really good in the leica video when really its crap lol.

I think its gonna be the lax200 for be and i might just make my own wall bracket just need a flat bit of metal to stick the lax200 to.

Cheers again.

Ps thats another thing ive gotta get an hd video camera we are off to Disney later this year so i thought i better get one

Well mine is a AVCHD Lite so it does record at 720 so half HD lol Plus water proof!

Now another ones popped up the Hilti PML 32 -R these are 199 + vat and that includes a detector as well sounds very good anyone seen or used one of these ?

I been told hilti is a pain for repairs so im assuming its a pain for recalibration when your laser eventually because out of level which I hope is many years. I was told that Lecia are good and cheap but seen as I only had mine for a year its still level and should be for few more years I hope so I have not needed to send mine of to get it calibrated so I cant clarify if its true

Another thing I might have against the Hilti one is it hasnt got LOCK function and doesnt look like you can tilt the laser which is a feature you might want. Its also more money I know you get the detector but would you use it as a joiner joiner?!?.

JMB

i think the hilti is great to be honest, i was given a demo why a lock was not needed. As for repairs a friend of mine just had a hilti tool repaired under warrantee, he phoned them in the morning, tool picked up that afternoon and dropped off next day, better than festool service/repairs if you ask me

JMB, it does have the lock function and Hilti are supposed to be the best for warranty work but still I think im edging towards the Stabila lax200.

PS Yeah I use the detectors quiet a lot if im setting out datums in a new build the floor area can be huge we set out datums to put our door linings in then the screeders screed the floor afterwards. I suppose if im doing that I would normally use the subbys laser anyway, mine would be more for small things like kitchens , bookcases etc.

Thats what I thought a small laser for small project lol  You would have to move the laser around to go right round unlike the large spinning lasers.  .Well I have asked my local dealer about hilti because I liked the look of  their new HILIT cut of saw (stihl saw) but he said he wont recommend any hilti because the service is isnt always that great but you can say that about any company but what puts me off is hilti says its a lifetime warrenty but that aint true its normaly only 1 or 2 years so why say it! I dont like it.

JMB

jmb, have you picked up that cut off saw? it is soooooo light compared to others i have used. What dealer said he wouldnt recommend hilti? you ony buy hilti from hilti as far as i know apart from the odd hire place that do thier guns. when i bought a cordless sds from them they phoned me 2 week later to see how i was getting on with it, i said fine but i think there is a side handle missing and googles, they arrived next day in post with a couple of drill bits to say sorry.

My mate has 1 of thier old 18v drills and it still going strong 7 years later. can't beat their stuff if you ask me. even if some of it isnt made by them

I suppose it depends where you are.I had a hilti chisel break on the first day.Took them 1 year to replace it!No joke. [eek]

Guy, I had spotted the Bosch but wanted to get a laser from a company that specialize in levelling tools rather than a tool company thats what put me off the Dewalt.

Chelseaboy, I did see the Stabila but it was coming up dearer than that site you have linked to I already have a Stabila laser but its just a spot one and doesnt self level but I know Stabila are good. For GBP 50 less though the Leica is looking good.

It is a bit more expensive, i had the pls 180 for about 18months and over a distance of 22 meters it was 25 mm out, i was having to do a ceiling at the time. bearing in mind the pls had always been kept in its box and then in my tool box it was a bit annoing.

I went for the stabilla as it is very very rugged good build quality as you'd expect from stabilla, the laser pendulum is locked automatically when you shut it off  which is great, also has a strong magnet on the back, but for extra security my old pls bracket screws in beneath as well.

It costs a little more but its worth it  ;)

I went for the Stabila in the end ordered it today from tool trolley.

Chelsea, I tried to get hold of you twice before ordering but you don't seem to look at your PM's  [wink] just wanted to ask a few questions but I have gone for it and ordered the Stabila.

The way I look at it Stabila only do leveling equipment and their levels are THE level to have where as Hilti do all different things.

It arrived today in a squashed box AAARGGH and it didnt work but it turned out the batteries already in it were flat its now working ok but I will check it for level etc.

Good service though I only ordered yesterday choosing 2-3 day delivery and it turned up in one day. This is the place I used if anyone wants one they are the cheapest
