Longitudinal Stop

Neil,

I am confused on how you are attaching the stop to your MFT/3.  It seems as though those two aluminum pieces are too long.  As you can see in the pic below, the holes on the stop are only about 12mm away from the channel where the feather key is.  Would you mind clarifying?  I assume you have the arm of the stop resting flat on the MFT/3 surface.

Thanks,
Brian

I think what's happening is Neil flipped the adjustable arm so that the pointer is upside side down (with the metric engravings not visible) and not resting on the MFT surface.  That is why his aluminum pieces are longer than what I expected and raise the arm about 25mm higher than the table.  I guess if Neil could show a photo of the stop attached to the MFT, that would make it clear.

I'm trying to figure out how to fashion a bracket to have the arm lay flat on the table.

Here's a photo - yes it is reversed in the stop.

I never realized there were mm markings on the reverse side!  Now I may shorten the two pieces of aluminum.

I actually don't use the stop that much.

I modified mine. Cut the aluminum shorter and drilled new holes.  Took about 15 minutes.

Ha, you beat me to it...but I went about it a different way, as I couldn't get it low enough without cutting the actual bracket.  So I took out the portaband, cut a few notches, and then attached an aluminum plate.

Nice work - your modification goes slightly lower to the table - maybe another 1/8" versus what I did.

Now I have to start using this with the mod!
