LR32 System required accessories

Hello all,

Obviously I`m new to the Festool world and I feel a bit dazed by the options and what is really required to do specific task. I am planning to do a bunch of cabinets for my new shop. The cabinets will have movable shelfs and Sys-AZ drawers. For that matter I want to use the LR32 system for customization.

Note: I already have the LR32 Guide Rail and will acquire the OF 1400 EQ this week.

Here my question, do I need the full LR 32 Hole Drilling Set in Systainer or only a few accessories will do?

I'm sure you will get many opinions on this, however my experience is that I used almost everything in the set.  I built over 30 cabinets and 50 doors and the only thing I didn't use were the Festool Router retaining disks (since I have a different brand of router)
The kit is pricey, however it really does keep all of the miscellaneous parts organized well and ready at hand.

Once I tried the 32mm system approach for cabinets and doors, I was sold and have never looked back.  In my application, I made all of the cabinets at one time and then built the doors several months later.  Every door fit perfectly just working from nominal dimensions without the need to fit or tweak hinge spacing.  It all comes down to measuring carefully when building the components.

I just bought the LR32 plate.  I think it’s around $130.  It does everything I need it to do.  I use it with the TSO square and a Festool quick clamp.

Dick, this is what I thought, to me Festool is all about being organized and the LR32 Systainer is doing perfect job by keeping everything together instead of spread out in the shop. I hate spending time to find that one little part that is always under a pile of other stuff. and yes it's pricey 720$CAd for me  [sad]

T.Ernsberger, I just order that square firguring I would need it somehow lol. Good to know that only the guide plate suffice to go around the LR32 system, thanks  the guide plate alone is 180$CAD on my local LeeValley

I would echo the advice that you just buy the whole set.  If you are new to the system having all the parts available to you so that you can watch videos and see how to set it up will be helpful.

You could cut your costs somewhat by not ordering the thru bit, the door drilling bit (if you are not doing doors), the clamps (you really should use clamps) if you have them, and the systainer.

It`s done, I bought both the OF 1400 EQ and the LR32 Systainer  [big grin]

I`m sure I will find some use for the hinge bit, like you said it`s not the most wanted item. Now it`s time to learn how to use it.
