First, to create a email ad takes considerable time and thought. It is not something somebody just copies and pastes a bunch of pictures together and sends out. The designer had to have instruction on the items to be sold as well as the pricing. I doubt that the web designer had much to do with that. Someone had to tell them what to put on sale and for how much. You're being VERY generous when you state it might have been a "mistake". There are a couple of things that happen when the ad goes out. First, the site gets a tremendous number of hits which helps with their "ranking" with GOOGLE. If GOOGLE perceives McFeely's as being trustworthy and informative they will move up in the page ranking which is very important. They rank very high in my area but not in the top 3 in "natural" ranking. Being in the top 3 is a tremendous advantage, especially #1. The second thing that comes to my mind has already been mentioned and that is the "float". It will be interesting to see how long the "credits" appear on you credit card statements.
I can't believe a new company would be so stupid to create these ads and then not follow through. They only got 1 chance to make a good first impression and whoever is running the company is either really stupid about customer relationships or is completely incompetent. I have purchased a number of items from them over the years but I will not spend any money with this kind of outfit.
