MFT and ZYLISS Vise

the Zyliss Profit was the high end model sold at the woodworking shows.  most popular and probably lowest price.  Look for those who don't know hat they have.  You will find many uses for it.

Thanks Peter.

The Zyliss is the original Swiss made vice and I think is about 70 years old. The "Profi-King" is the model I have but I have no idea if Zyliss made any others. If you see one going cheap on eBay go for it. Very versatile and portable.

Hi Boatman,

Your pics are no longer showing -- can you repost or send to me?  Curious on zyliss attachment and then the drawer you said you made.  Thanks!

Bear in mind that's an MFT 1080 and not an MFT/3, but I'm sure it will give you some ideas.

Thanks Garry for reposting those. The pics were on Photobucket and I haven’t used that in a while. Thanks to the software emailing me about the post I’m back if there are are any questions.
I kind of lost interest in the FOG as Festool upgraded the line to newer tools and made mine obsolete.

They still work just like they did back in the day. I have a FESTO AT65 that still works great, and requires less guide rail length to make the cut too.

Thanks for the welcome, Garry.
Yes, Michael mine still work as they should. Which is why I never needed to upgrade. So any thing I might do, like the table extension on this thread seemed less relevant as this extrusion was discontinued just a couple of months after I bought it.
As a boatbuilder most of my work is done with hand tools and I just spent more and more time on hand tool forums.
I’ll stick around though and see if I’m any use.

I have had my Zyllis for a loooong time.  If this thread inspires anyone I would suggest that people check out craigslist and eBay.  Lots of them out there for sale at far less than what I paid back in '86 or so.

Peter

Found this old thread - I had been looking for one and found that they weren't available in the US - looked on eBay and found a new one in the box for $100, can't wait to get it. I do so much on the MFT/3 that I wish I could clamp on better - this affords a good solution, I think.

Posted above also, but these pics are really helpful. I had been trying to sort out a vice solution for the MFT/3, which is my main work bench. This is a good idea -

I actually was looking for a second set the other week and the deals on ebay from those who don't know are pretty low.

Horse trade  for a #3 or #4 stanley hand plane......or....?

A little dusty but still functional.

I have one, possibly two of these somewhere. In honesty I’ve never used them that much but, I didn’t have MFT’s and mobile set ups like I have now, when I bought them. I also have plenty of bench vices.
I can see they would be a handy edition with the MFT’s etc though.
