here are the pictures of this mudroom bench I made with mirror.  the mirror and board with hooks was made from old barn wood.  I sanded briefly with my ro90 and then took the 850 planer with the undulating head and messed it up a bit.  then took dirt and darkened up the areas where planed..... yes dirt right out of their planters next to the drive way were I was working.. wiped it off then added satin poly all over it... came out awesome.

the bench was made from birch ply, popular frame and t & g beaded pine,,, what else.

the first picture is from some magizine the lady found and water the bench to look something like that but smaller and with my designs.
let me know any questions... and thank you

oh if I might add this is awesome !  i am very pleased and even impressed myself on this one.  customer is also very happy and has hired me to do a complete bonus room of cabinets, benches desk, tv cabinet... a pretty huge job.... starting around may 1st... and I just met them at the coffee shop I eat at and they had mentioned to the waitress that they were looking for someone to build a mudroom bench... and the waitress came over to me to get my card and I said why... I said let me go over and introduce myself,, showed my mini I PHONE presentation  and right then and there said... lets get together either this afternoon at 4 pm or would tomorrow at 6:30 be better.... they said today  which I might add was sunday.. so I saw them that afternoon, sunday... why dilley dalley around with emails when you can book now... saw them that afternoon went back 2 days later with price and got deposit right then.

and they are extremely happy... they had meet with 4 people before me over the last 6 months and none of them she said had a clue and all looked puzzled as to what to do.
i showed up with enthusiusm and the attitude that i can do it and do these changes and it will look awesome !  and it did..

just a brief lesson for your pros out there on how I do things... in case it might help you.

kreg, Great job! Looks awesome and love the dirt trick.
I just did the same thing you did.  A lady showed me a picture from a magazine and asked if I could make her cabinet doors and drawers.
I love being able to make something with a simple photo.
And I have a good neighbor who likes to come over and check out what I'm building.  He was very impressed with how my doors looked just liked the photo's.  Just yesterday he came over with a picture of a vanity base and asked if I would build it for him.
I agree with you about having enthusiasm.  If you love what you do and take pride in your work it will show, and people will pick up on your energy and feed off of it.  Keep up the great work. I love seeing your projects.

Kreg:
Looks great as always! Thanks for sharing your experience.

What was the color (cherry?) you used on the frame of the mudroom bench?

Congrats on the new work! I am looking forward to the pictures and write up.

It was paint from Sherwin Williams. Chocklet brown. She wanted black but it did nor look good so I steered her to that color as it looks so much better

Nice, Kreg. You're so right about careful work combined with enthusiasm - that's the ticket!

I just finished a built-in shelf in a bedroom remodel that had beadboard as the back. I need to get a picture of my "Kreg Memorial Built-in Shelf" for you to see.  ;)

Thanks Ron. Love to see pic.  Memorial ?  I ain't dead yet.  Lol

Great work Kreg, I like the  fluting and the corbels, really adds a lot of style to the piece.!

Nice work Kreg.  Dirt?  Love it.  Did you do finishing off site and then deliver, or did you do on site?

I really like the way you network, trust me, I'm copying it.  And there's nothing better than finishing the job and the client says "You know, since you're here can you take a look at this room..."
Jon

Thank you I finished it and built it on site and besides why use my own dirt!  Geeze  [eek]
