Yeah, generally it's a big can of worms that I try to avoid.

For myself, I find strengths in both camps. For instance, the Eurekazone offerings are very nice and I use them often. That said, I also have a TS75 on order for certain applications the EZ tools aren't as well suited to. I own a OF1400, and the EZ SSRK is the best thing to ever happen to that router.

My blood doesn't run one color or the other, I buy the tool best suited to a particular job.

Hope everybody has a great day, they're forecasting a high of zero degrees F today!
Best,
Tom

Nice setup. I have seen your work on different things in the Garage Journal so when I saw that you posted I already knew what to expect. Like I expected very well thought out and well executed. I became a Festooligan this summer for my hobby woodworking and I am so impressed with how it affected the quality of my finished products. Festool and this forum made me a better woodworker.

Good luck on the business, with your attention to detail and quality you should do very well.

Eureka Zone?  uh oh.... [scared] [scared] [scared] [scared]

LOL, yeah, I don't want to start any flame-wars. Alan inquired and I provided him with a name and a link.

Gotta say I feel a bit caught between two worlds these days. I think I have a healthy mix of both lines (Festool and Eurekazone).

Bring up Eurekazone at the FOG and people get their undies in a bunch, bring up Festool at the Track Saw Forum and you get some serious backlash there as well. I just post photos and ideas, if folks want further details they're free to ask.

Best,
Tom

Never heard of Eurekazone or the Track Saw Forum ... this prompted me to go and have a look. There's no product presence in Oz and after looking, I'm not that stressed about it to be honest (there's such a variety of aluminium profiles available that it's easy to fabricate anything you can dream up). Looking at the Track Saw Forum - does the Festool Owners Group look like that to "outsiders" ??? I hope not.

Thanks! Your Youtube vids were a huge inspiration for this trailer.

I think the UWB will have to go in the truck though...

My Sprinter was stolen in September, which gave me an opportunity to reevaluate which tools I carry and HOW I carry them. For instance, I had a CT-36 but replaced it with a CT-26.

The first photo shows how I had my drivers side cabinets built, the rest of the photos show my current configuration. Since the vast majority of my equipment lives in Systainers, I built modular cubbies that match the rough dimensions of Systainers. The Passenger side cabinet is 1 systainer deep, the Driver's side is 24" deep to allow for 2-deep systainer storage and to accommodate CT vacs.

I got to see the Tom mobile up close!  Nice setup, I'm jealous.

I was at my local Woodcraft ordering a few things before the price increase. I never thought I would say "nice work pants" to a man ...but I'm blaming honeydokreg...  and his work pants review... he started. it.

Well the conversion covered many topics as we both do remodeling for a living and talking business environment, tools and stuff. The topic got to secure transport and he mentioned he had a Sprinter and had set it up to hold Festool stuff.  So I got to tour of his handy work putting the racking in.

Well I"m not sure how smart we are as we talked business standing out side in 20 degree weather for about an hour.

Got to say I have yet to meet a FOG person that is not a great person to talk with.

Cheers,
Steve

I agree about working out of the back of a pick up. YUCK!  [tongue] Below are some pics of how I had my Tundra set up.

Do you anticipate transporting materials in your trailer or truck?

I imagine you've got some clever ideas in mind for theft-prevention  [cool]

Keep us posted on any changes you make, and best of luck on your new venture!!
Best,
Tom
Can't do a Sprinter or trailer, but like your Tundra bed setup.

Question:  It looks like the passenger side drawer is fully extended, but I don't see any drawer slides or such to support it as such.  Do you have some sort of mechanism or something to support the drawers once extended?

Thanks.

By the look of the amount of gear in there, I'm guessing the Tundra counterbalances on the back axle and the drawer end sits on the ground  [big grin]

Steve, it was a pleasure to see you as well! I'll call you tomorrow, I think we need to hit up Granite City and have a drink next week!

This is a condensed version of a PM I sent, but I thought it was worth posting for others to see.

Lumbajac, you are astute in noting the lack of any drawer slides or hardware. Basically, it's just a drawer that slides into the cabinet mounted in the bed. You'll have to bear with me here, I think I built 4 or 5 different versions of this set up before I broke down and went with the Sprinter. My memory is that the cabinet and drawers were 6' long, in a 8' long truck bed. The tail gate helped support the drawers when extended. If I stayed with the truck I would have added a cleat or some other spacer to the tail gate so the drawers didn't sag so much when fully extended. I just always made sure that there was roughly 1"-2" of drawer still in the cabinet so the whole works didn't fall out and end up in the street!  [scared]

The reason I went with a 6' long cabinet and drawers is to allow for moving larger or bulky items (Kapex, CT, etc....) to get up on top of the cabinet. If the cabinet were 8' long, the topper is lower in the back and would not allow enough space to get up on top of the cabinet.

The spacing worked out beautifully, the side drawers could accommodate standard Systainers and the center drawer could accommodate Maxi-Systainers.

Thanks for the comments guys, let me know if there's more info I can supply!
Best,
Tom

Well it has been on the job for a couple weeks now and I'm loving it. After several nasty potholes and one railroad crossing that made the whole trailer go airborne, nothing has come off the shelves.  ;D

I am however contemplating adding a bank of small (in depth) wide drawers to the front.

Well, two months later it is going strong. I mounted the miter saw upright and added a tool chest in the front under the bench. This trailer has really impressed a lot of people. It seems to ease any qualms about my age.
