Non-Festool router on LR-32 system.. Possible?

I already have several routers (DeWalt 618s) and a trim router... because they are interchangeble and flexible (one permanently in a table lift; another for separate table use and/or hand work; one in an upgraded plunge base, D-handle base, etc...)  So, basically, I'm invested in the 618 line and have spare motors and bases.

Has anyone adapted (or tried to adapt) a non-Festool router to use the guide-rail-based hole drilling system (LR-32)?  If so, could you speak to the process (or impossibility) of adapting another router to be used on the hole drilling system guide plate?  It seems like this should be as straightforward as attaching the guide plate to a plunge base, and there you go.  If it is not that straightforward, what are the issues?

I very much want to get the LR-32 guide rail, the guide plate, etc etc (along with some other green items this person is selling) but definitely do not need another router at this time.

Followup and results of trying to mate DeWalt 618 and LR32 system.  Verdict:  Unsuccessful.

As long as you can center the plunge base and transfer some holes to the index plate you are good to go. There is a centering  mandrel that comes with the kit, IIRC, and you might also just get lucky and have the clamps designed for the OF1010 hold your 618 correctly, in which case you would not need to transfer any mounting holes.

I don't have a DeWalt router so I can't comment if there would be any issues with mounting it. Greg pretty much summed up the mounting options. The only thing I'd add is you'll also need an 8 mm collet because the centering mandrel has an 8 mm shank.

I am pondering and searching for info mating a DeWalt 618 to the Festool system. I would think that the DeWalt's centering mandrel  - though cone shaped - would do the job. I suppose an 8mm collet would be the better choice because it is flat bottomed and would make adapting things easier.

If you're thinking of the DW618 and the LR32 system, please see here:
