I'm working on a project where I needed to bore out several holes "x" from the table top. Most common is "x" below the top of the piece. To my surprise the electronic depth works in both modes! (maybe others already knew this)
Working on my pergola corbels. They have one hefty fastener on the bottom. There is a c'bore to hide the screw head. The main support corbels were about 50" long 2x8's. I used my new toys to make the bores. You needed about 4 hands for this but I used the WP fence and stop and the Voyager auto-start and electronic depth stop. Made this job go quickly.

I'm looking to buy 'Nova Voyager' soon. Most dealers sell for $1999 and is this the correct price? I'm leaning toward buying from Amazon and seller is CPO Outlet. I'm bit concerned... never bought anything from CPO before. Are the trustworthy with shipping, customer service, etc?

I am looking for a drill press. I saw the two Nova machines live for the first time a few weeks ago.

Unfortunately, the machines are not very common in Germany and in all the forums where I have asked about them, the machine has not been treated well... Without a belt or gearbox, it simply doesn't have enough torque in the lower speed range, etc. ... :
I have read the whole thread and have the following questions about the machines:
How many mm (inch) diameter can you drill with the machine in "normal" steel? (Viking/Voyager)
If I were to buy a machine now, should I go for the Viking or the Voyager? I usually need 16mm drill diameters in steel and 50mm Forstner bits in hardwood.
The Voyager has been on the market for some time. Will there soon be a successor to the Voyager?
What do you think about a possible spare parts supply in 10 years?

Hi Michael, I really think you'd be hard pressed to get a better drill press than the Viking or Nova for the money. They are both absolutely sensational. I have the Viking as I don't have the space for a floor model. I routinely use 50-60mm TCT forstners in hardwoods to a depth of 80-140mm without any issue for the door stop blocks I make.
The drill is super quiet and vibration free, and has more than enough power, and the auto-start and auto-depth is insanely useful. I use these features all the time.
The only issue for the Viking is you get a max of 270mm between the table and the bottom of the chuck. For me as I use a couple of large shank 60 x 160mm forstners, means I can't do some of the larger blocks on it. I have to swivel the table out of the way and try to build up from the base.
If space isn't a problem, I'd recommend the Voyager for this reason alone., but you'll be stoked with either.
