Hello all

I am trying to find the collar diameter of OF 1010 template guides. Exampel the Festool 486030. However, it seems completely impossible to find this on the internet - therefor what better place to ask than a Festool owners group.

Long story short, I have a Bosch Dovetail Jig, Using a Makita router - but Makita dos not have the template guide diameter i need for my jig. Festool do however. Now I am wondering if the Festool template guide will fit my Makita? Of cause I am willing to make modifications if need be. My Makita template guide have an outer diameter of aprox. 68 mm. In addition, I need the distance between the holes of the template guide.

Cheers

Kim,

[welcome]  to the FOG.

I just measured a couple in the shop.  The outside diameter of the entire ring (I believe this is what you are asking for, not just the inner/outer diameter of the bushing)  Is about 74mm +/- a little variance in each piece.  The distance between the holes is 65mm on center.

I hope this helps with what you are trying to do...

May I suggest purchasing an OF 1010  [poke] ;)

Ken,

Thank you very much. I am thinking with a little grinding, the template ring will fit just fine - and most importantly be centered correctly.

Haha, yes I would love to have a OF 1010 - or any Festool router. Unfortunately it is just above what I need and is willing to pay for the tool. A secondhand Makita suits my current needs perfectly. However, in a near future when I upgrade my current shed to a decent workshop, I will definitely consider buying Festools  [embarassed]

Anyway, I will order a couple of template guides for my jig, at see how it pans out.

Arndt,

You might look at a set of guide bushings sold by Axminster in the UK. They also have a lot of guide bush adapters for many brands and types of routers.

For centering the adapter you might have a look at Festools centering mandrel (product# 492187)

Karel,
Yes, that was my first thought as well, however the Ø I need (13.8 and 17 mm) is not available in any of the sets I have found..

Ken,
Got my Festool template rings today. Just filed them very careful and they fit like a glove - this is fantastic! Then I had to grind two slots to fit the screws. All in all this is a success.. :-)

Kim

I only saw this thread a few minutes ago and it made me think about using the OF1010 with my Leigh D4 dovetail jig. For my OF1400 I bought a guide bush adapter from Axminster but Axminster do not do one for the OF1010 that would allow the UJK guide bushes or the Leigh guide bush that I have already to fit.

Can anyone tell me what I need to get in order to use the OF1010 with the Leigh jig? I am sorry Kim if this slightly takes the subject away from your initial post but it seems very similar.

Hi Peter,

You need Festool P/N 469625 "SLEEVE OF 1010 EQ USA". Check out http://www.powertool-supplies.co.uk/469625-sleeve-of-1010-eq-usa.html where it costs a huge £1.57 due to the change in cost of some parts! Cost me a little more when I bought mine.

If you want the alignment to be perfect, you'll need to get hold of a centering mandrel. Festool do a stepped one that works in 1/4" and 8mm collects, part 492187. http://www.powertool-supplies.co.uk/festool-centering-mandrel-zd-of-d-6-358.html

See a previous thread for more details.

Hi Garry

Very many thanks for the comprehensive and prompt reply. I will put the OF1010 on my shopping list together with those bits and pieces.
