Looking to mount the OF 2000 basic in a Veritas Router top that I already own.
Hard to beat the price of the OF 2000 and with so many other Festool tools in my shop I hate to buy a $300 PC router

First question is if anyone else has added a Festool router to the Veritas top, it uses a clamp system that is different than most router table systems that use inserts?

Second question is what is the height of the OF 2000 when it is not plunged and what is the height when it is plunged all the way?
Hopefully someone who has a OF2000 can provide this.

Thanks
Bob

Bob, do you already own the discontinued Festool OF2000 router?

I ask because everyone I know with a wood shop who uses Festools also owns other brands of routers. I love my OF2200 and own 2 of them. I also love and have made a lot of money with my OF1010s, so currently I own 7 of them. Before the MFK 700 came out in the USA I had owned and used several trim routers. I got rid of the non-Festool trim routers and own 5 MFK 700. Yet in addition I also use many non-plunge routers when they are appropriate.

A classic case is with USA style router tables, such as your Veritas. Many of my pals own those and most combine it with a PC 7518. For a router table you only need the router motor and you can buy just that with the 7518. I am sure all that I own cost well under USA$300.

My suggestion is that if you do own an OF2000, use it as a marvelous plunge router and put a more conventional round router motor on your Veritas table.

Here on FOG there are many reports that the CMS router module will not work with the OF2000, so Bob, it would be pointless to wait for the CMS to arrive in North America for such a purpose.

Thanks for the response

I do not own the OF 2000 currently, I do have the Veritas Top and most of the accessories they make.

The Veritas system requires that the router stay in it’s base which I have found to be very useful as it also allows the router to be removed quickly and returned to the top. I’m always surprised that so few have seen it, for me it solves some problems that I think other router table manufacturers are always working on.

The router I use most frequently in the top is an older PC model possibly 1.5 HP that is in a fixed base, I use an inexpensive speed control and it does a fairly good job for me

For above table work I use the OF 1010 and agree with

Currently I’m doing work that exceeds the HP of these two routers. I was looking to purchase a PC7518 which is $314 with the base, I stumbled on the OF 2000 basic at $344.

For $30 extra I cannot see a reason not to get another Festool router, I have a Systainer 4 that is empty and some 8mm bits.

The reason I’m looking for the height of the OF 2000 is to determine if the current shop made table that holds the Veritas top will work.

Bob -  Did you ever buy the OF2000 and use it with the Veritas top?  I am considering doing it right now, but it is a big router and don't want it to drop out.

You need a router base (plunge or fixed) to mount in that table.  Honestly I have no idea why people are suggesting that the router base is not needed for that router table top; it absolutely does need it.  If you bought a OF2000, it should not be too difficult to make that router table top work.  Only problem I could see is if the router base is simply too large diameter to work with those clamps.
