I think i also know, someone told me his festool rep spilled the beans. There is something coming out early 2014. With a little luck we should soon know.
It is probably portable like most festool products. In any case i am sitting on the edge of my seat. Antonio Banderas is an actor.

Looks like the Festool KA 65 Portable Edge Bander is now out in the wild (sort of)...

That'd make you the most popular kid on the block! Tooltechnic have registered the name in Oz, so I'm certain it's heading down under too.

Just noticed the name on the machine - 'Conturo'.

Googling it proved quite interesting...

One site that came up lists words that TTS has applied for trademark. From this it seems that the rumours of a multimaster-type tool are true, and that Festool's version will be called 'Vecturo'  [blink]

Good find lol! The festool vecturo:

"Hand-guided electric power tools, namely, oscillating multi-purpose power tools used for sawing and scraping of metal, wood, plastics, concrete or stone"

Another 'quite interesting' thing from that link is that Festool appear to have let the term 'vac sys' expire. I guess there won't be a T-loc version then...

T-VAC

Probably see a lot more of Protools being rebranded as Festool. It appears there was some close relationship between the 2 companies long before the merger so some products were rebranded while others shared many properties and could be interchangeable.

Protool, festool, tanos, Schneider are all under the same company, TTS. Just like Cadillac, GMC, Chevrolet are all under GM. So it wasn't so much a merger, more just a structure change. Festo is still in there too but now they do super crazy robotics for manufacturing from what I understand. Not sure if it's the parent to TTS or more of a sister company.

Festo, the pneumatics company, is now completely separate I believe. It's not part of TTS, and other than the name there's no connection. That's what I remember reading in the past, unless I remembered incorrectly (which is also a possibility!).

Just the other day, while cutting a hole in a wall, I was thinking, why doesn't Festool make something for this? Then I see this: http://www.festool.com/EN/Products/Pages/Product-Detail.aspx?pid=767996&name=Diamant-cutting-system-DSC-AG-125-Plus.

Want. wantwantwant! [eek]

Interesting that this tool was rebadged "Festool" but the specs indicate that it is "Suitable for use with Protool guide rail ..."

Same company just Festool was more for workshop and Protool was more site and bigger tools

But TTS decided there is no need for protool so they are discontinuing some tools from the protool range and the other remaining tools they are rebranding to festool.

I have a few protool and festool tools the batteries and rails all fit each other and if I have a problem with protool and I can deal with festool.

All their tools are going to be rebranded or discontinued.  TTS are extending Festool range and closing down the protool range.

I do think the protool range is initially made by or with the technology if a Czech company "narex" they took over, many of the Narex tools are visually identical to some protools.
What i think they did was take over narex, improve some of their tools and adapt them to the system and name them Protool. But either Protool didn't take off well enough, or they felt confident enough about the quality to name it Festool. My dealer always told me he wanted to offer Protool but there were difficulties, but at that time TTS was probably already planning the merge.
